In this episode we continue our conversation from last time regarding the resurgence of Paganism. We discuss healing herbs (including flying ointment and how its use was misunderstood by Christian Crusaders to create the idea we now know as an "evil, ugly witch.") We talk about how such things as the suppression of emotion and the need for "more proof" impact whiteness as we see it in our current society.
This episode is the first part in the conversation piece where we talk with a white man about the resurgence of Paganism. I was particularly interested in what white people/white men feel like we are missing, and finding it again in Paganism.
In this episode a local activist named Radial and I discuss European colonization of Africa, African uprisings, and look at how African Revolutions parallel to the current American Revolution. Radial and I discuss some of the reasons for European colonization. You'll learn a little about the Berlin Conference, Thomas Sankara, and the Soweto uprising. We also discuss the vilification of the rebel in the form of vilifying dreadlocs, independent economics, independent mentality, and revolutionary act of community building.
In today's episode, I talk with a white racial educator and Buddhist practitioner regarding her experience in facilitating a course on Healing Racism. Carol Weiss has spent countless years dedicated to her own inner human revolution, in addition to assisting the human revolution of others. We speak on the concept of healing racism within yourself first, and the power that is ownership. Ownership leads into the expansion of Human consciousness, and subsequently collective Human consciousness. We discuss and share experiences of our own whiteness, however from a place of growth rather than a place of shame. We discuss white denial, white shame, white privilege, and a few societal, mental, and cultural structures that make difficult for the ownership of white racism.
Please listen as we grow, Heal, and expand together.
A must listen tell all episode! Welcome again to the Buddhist Gemini podcast! Today I am speaking about the White education system, and my experience in it. I speak on the conditioning of white people from an early age, and the shame that is often experienced to go against the grain of the white educational system, and "white consciousness" as a whole. I go into detail of how I have used my Buddhist spiritual practice to help heal myself, my educational/psychological conditioning, and most importantly white shame.
If you are a white person who has decided to outgrow their racism, and relearn, this is a much needed listen, as I discuss many aspects of this healing that are not often talked about, and offer spiritual tools and teachings to help guide us. Remember, you are the Universe, the Universe is you. :)
Welcome to the Buddhist Gemini podcast! Today, I interview one of my dear friends regarding his experiences with emotion as a man. He also shares with me, and gives me permission to ask questions regarding the intersection between his experience as a black man and masculinity. (Just as a disclaimer, it is not the job of black people to explain these things to us white people, nor should we feel compelled to ask these sorts of questions to our black brothers and sisters unless they have agreed to share with us their racial experience in the United States.)
We discuss dynamics between "white masculinity" and "black masculinity", having the courage to see a therapist, being ghosted, emotional projections, and more. I sprinkle in tid bits of Buddhist philosophy throughout our conversation so that we may all know and understand that we are all the Buddha. We are all the Universe, divine and flowing. :)
I had hesitated to publish this podcast at this time, as I felt it may not have addressed racial components as much as I had wanted it, or felt that it needed to at this current time (now that we have people't attention.) While it does address some of these dynamics, I feel that it is important that I quickly finish this series and move onto the next, so that we may better understand underlying dynamics within our society at large while we are all in the process of our own human revolutions in addition to helping to assist others on their human revolutions. Please take this knowledge from this conversation and carry it with you into the next series of Buddhist Gemini, so that we will be able to better understand each other as we all grow and learn.
No, all men aren't the "same!", that's why I made sure to interview and study the viewpoints of multiple men with regards to the topic of emotion. In this episode, my dear friend Joel and I discuss the ways in which men compartmentalize emotion, and feed into escapism. I also learned more about how men deal with the emotions of other men! I hope that you can learn with me, as I am learning, and diving deeper into Understanding the male emotional experience.
Men and Emotion: Volume 1
In this podcast I speak with Leelan, a mutual friend, about his emotional journey as a man. We discuss dynamics that exist within male and female romantic relationships pertaining to the idea that some women sometimes (including myself at times) have labeled men as not having emotion. We examine ideas, beliefs, and expectations of men within culture, within themselves, and within the world. This conversation turns into a Healing experience as we are both honest about our journeys, feelings, and thoughts. I strongly encourage you to listen in on this collaboration conversation about men and emotion, between a man and a woman, as it's so rare that we come together to speak to each other and have true healing dialogue. I implore you to speak, to listen, and most importantly to speak and listen to each other.
Welcome to the Buddhist Gemini Podcast! The Buddhist Gemini approach is one that uses spiritual and Buddhist philosophy to navigate the issues of our time pertaining to social justice and viral social media topics. These topics will include but are not limited to: Men and emotion, white feminism, Black Power, cultural appropriation, historical white washing, break ups and relationships, and more. The Buddhist Gemini approach is one that seeks not to "drag" or "cancel" people, but rather to educate and provide perspective.
Each topic will be presented as a series of conversations with those who have agreed to share their experience with me and offer insight. After each series of conversations I will do a solo podcast where I share a bit about my reasoning for choosing the particular topic and what I learned after the conversations that I had on the show.
I am a practitioner of Nicherian Buddhism, as well as one who studies and honors various spiritual philosophies including Voodoo, Ifa, Ancestor Worship, and Holistic Healing. I am also a Gemini, of which for me holds great significance with regards to the meaning of dichotomy and Understanding. I am currently an undergraduate student of Psychology, with aspirations to attend graduate school for Sociology.
Please join me as we plunge deep into Understanding and Elevation, so that we may undergo our own Human Revolution and create a better world. :)
-Much love
