Build Communities & Tell Stories That Ignite Change with Erin Prather Stafford

Listen Later

Education and support are crucial for helping more young women access and explore a future in the arts. Erin Prather Stafford is the Founder of Girls That Create, where she provides resources that help to empower women of all ages to think creatively and pursue their creative passions. Women creators are greatly underrepresented in the media, and because of this, we are seeing a lack of inspiring and motivational messages for today's young women. To start tipping the scales, we need to start having conversations with young women as early as possible, and educate them about the resources they need to pursue their creative interests. While respecting the boundaries of our time and value, we need to be more adamant about sponsoring and mentoring the women we believe in so they can chase the creative life of their dreams. Help support woman creatives by engaging with their work!

📣 One of Girls That Create’s most popular posts is about helping girls use their voice: take the Wonder Woman power pose before you act. 16:26
🤝 Mentorship and sponsorship are not the same thing, but both help people you believe in: if you're willing to go out and be vulnerable, many people will want to help you. 19:35
📚 When people ask for favors, you should have some resources available but also have boundaries and charging rates. 24:44
đź’ś The easiest, most simple way to support women creatives is to go see their work. 29:38
