Satan is called “the accuser of the brethren” because he hurls lies and condemnation at the people of God. The enemy’s attacks can make us think that because of our mistakes, Jesus couldn’t possibly love us, let alone forgive us. In today’s message from Psalm 23, Pastor Ed reminds us that Christ’s love for His people cannot be earned. God loves us because He loves us. Jesus proved how much He loved us by dying on the cross. Therefore, when the enemy tries to condemn, we know that we are loved and forgiven.

Sometimes the last thing we need when we are hurting spiritually is a harsh rebuke. The Bible describes our Lord as someone Who will not snuff out a smoking wick or break a reed that is broken. In other words, Jesus is gentle, loving, and kind to those who are hurting. In today’s message from Psalm 23, Pastor Ed teaches us that the Lord comforts those who need comforting. God knows just how to love us and encourage us because He is the Good Shepherd. He tenderly loves His sheep.

Americans are simply not getting enough rest. In today’s competitive “go go go” culture, people keep moving even when their bodies are screaming for sleep. Because folks don’t want to lose a sale or miss out on potential opportunities, their schedules do not leave room for margin. In today’s message from Psalm 23, Pastor Ed implores us to find time to rest by the authority of the Scriptures. God is passionate about His people’s rest and wants us to find strength in quiet communion with Him.

All of us at one point in time have laid in bed unable to sleep because our anxious thoughts would not slow down enough to allow our bodies to shut down. In today’s message from Psalm 23, Pastor Ed teaches us that the Lord is concerned about our anxieties and the little things that can rob us of peace. Because Jesus is our Shepherd, He will ward off the pests that eat into our lives and minds to sabotage the rest we so need and desire. Through Christ’s power in us, our peace and rest is restored.

Today Pastor Ed continues our sermon series in the Psalms. We will learn that our Shepherd, Jesus Christ, is there with us even in the shadow lands. Dark days and storms do come in the life of a believer. However, the psalmist writes that God will walk with us during those dark days. Our Lord will help sustain in the valley and lead us out to greener pastures to peace and rest. Pastor Ed encourages us to choose Jesus as our Shepherd. Those that don’t call Christ Lord will never experience His perfect rest.

The Bible says that people are like sheep that have gone astray. This means that we are lost and vulnerable to attack. Pastor Ed teaches us today in a message from Psalm 23 that we Christians have a Shepherd to guide us to safety. Jesus is the Good Shepherd Who lays down His life for His sheep. The Lord protects us and wards off the enemy who seeks to kill, steal, and destroy. Our Shepherd is there with us even in the darkest hours. Jesus guides us when we are helpless to find our way.

Psalm 23 is perhaps the most famous passage of Scripture from the Old Testament. King David’s words are so beloved because they speak of an intimate God who is gentle and comforting. Pastor Ed teaches us today that Jesus, the Lord, is our Shepherd. In spite of all our frailties and mistakes, the Lord is our personal Shepherd who gave His life for us, His sheep. He knows our name and cares about our well being. Jesus guides us gently with the sound of His voice to a place of peace and rest.

Pastor Ed continues our series in the Psalms by examining Psalm 32 today. David wrote Psalm 32 after he committed the sin of adultery. David writes that when he hid his sin, his once strong body grew weak from spiritual torment. Pastor Ed teaches us that we too suffer physically when we live sinful lives. However, when we confess our sins and repent, the Lord is faithful to forgive and restore us. How wonderful it is when God lifts the burden of sin from our shoulders!

David sinned greatly by sleeping with Bathsheba and murdering her Godly husband Uriah. David’s sin caused a break in fellowship between him and Lord and brought shame to God’s Name. However, the Lord showed mercy to David when he repented of his sins. Psalm 34 is David’s response to restored fellowship with God. Pastor Ed teaches us that all of us need God’s forgiveness because we’ve all missed the mark. As we receive Jesus’s mercy, we can do nothing but praise God for His grace just like David did.

The life of a Christian is the life of a pilgrim. We are strangers in a foreign land on a journey to our heavenly home. Pastor Ed unpacks Psalm 84 today and teaches us that it is better to be a door keeper in Abba Father’s house than to live in a palace filled with worldly treasures. While the earth and its pleasures are passing away, the Lord’s house is established forever. The Psalmist exclaims that one day spent in God’s presence is better than 1,000 days elsewhere.
