The Bible in its entirety proves time and again to be the best guide for daily living, and possibly no book more so than the book of Psalms. As Pastor Ed begins a series today looking in depth at a few of these chapters, he reminds us of this book’s vast insight into personal triumphs and tribulations of everyday life. Each Psalm varies from joy to sorrow, from mountain top to valley, with one theme weaving its way continuously throughout: God is always there to rescue, redeem, and rejoice with us!

We are losing our country! The fabric of our country is eroding because we, as a nation, have traded truth for tolerance. “Tolerance!” is the cry of the day. And truth gets laid aside. In today’s message, Pastor Ed heralds the need for a commitment to truth! Jesus said, “My Word is truth!” If we get His Word into our lives, we will begin to make wise decisions. We will once again know the difference between right and wrong. We believe in objective truth! Are you committed to truth over tolerance?

Many today are trying to erase the influence of Christianity from history. They remove crosses from public places and try to rewrite history books and use them to indoctrinate our children in public schools. But no matter how hard they try, they cannot erase God from history. History is indeed “His Story”! In today’s message, Pastor Ed reminds us that no matter how hard they try, they cannot change the facts. Facts are stubborn things and you cannot have your own truth. God HAS acted in human history!

Evangelism can be hard at times. And sometimes we wonder why our efforts in evangelism aren’t paying greater dividends in terms of drawing people to Christ. Part of the problem can be our lack of unity as believers. When those around us see us fighting and in discord as Christians, the last thing they want is to join us! In today’s message, Pastor Ed challenges us to see unity as a necessary ingredient of our evangelism! Will you stand in unity with other believers for the sake of the gospel?

At times it seems there is pressure in today’s culture to unite with other religions under a common cause or a common banner. Of course, we all serve our communities and there may be room to do that alongside other religions to a point, but when asked to join hands and pray together? This, says Pastor Ed, is where we must draw the line! In today’s message, Pastor Ed argues that there is a time to lovingly divide with other religions. We do not serve the same God! Christianity is a call to Christ alone!

Do you understand eternity? Do you live in light of eternity? Do you understand the full weight of the Cross of Jesus Christ? Today, Pastor Ed reflects on the weight of the Gospel and especially the impact it is to have on each of our lives. No one truly touched by the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ can ever remain the same. If we truly understood and lived with an eternal perspective, we would live differently. Jesus said that as Christians, we are to do great works. How is this going to be accomplished? In today’s message Pastor Ed teaches on the subject of the Holy Spirit and His role in our lives. He reminds us of Jesus’ words that the Holy Spirit would guide us into all truth and would be our teacher. The Holy Spirit takes what He receives from Jesus and teaches it to us. And then as we depend upon the Holy Spirit, we are enabled to do all that God wants to do through us. Without the Holy Spirit, we can do nothing.

In today’s message, Pastor Ed talks about the importance of loving the way God has loved us. How has God loved us? Romans 5:8 says that “while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Are we as willing as God to love those who have sinned? Even those who have sinned against us? This is not to say that we have to condone what someone has done, but we are to accept them where they are and love them as Christ has loved us. No one is sinned against more than God. And yet, He loves in return. Will you?

Pastor Ed discusses today Jesus’s statement that He is the Vine, and when we cling to Him, and grow with our roots planted firmly in Him, we will flourish and impact others profoundly. However, this is not an easy task. There will be times when we stray, and potentially won’t even realize how far we’ve gone! God desires that we always come back to Him though, and continues to extend that invitation again and again! Just check the Scriptures – God gives us second chances, every time!

Where does your strength come from? On good days, and on bad days, where do you turn when you feel you cannot take another step? Pastor Ed has a recommendation: turn to Jesus! Today’s message encourages us to do just that; Jesus told us that He is like a vine, and if we remain attached to Him, and cling to Him, especially in our misery, we will receive the strength we are searching for. And what’s more – when we are filled with the love and strength of Jesus, we will be able to spread it to others!
