There are all kinds of power. After his resurrection, Jesus told his followers to wait and they listened and prayed through this time. They were waiting for the Holy Spirit – a power like no other (Acts 2). Not a worldly power, but Godly power. This power is available to all who call on the name of Jesus in their lives. This power brings joy and peace in the midst of turmoil; patience, goodness, kindness, and self control. These are the marks of the Spirit. And when you are filled with the Spirit we leave marks of the Spirit where ever we go.
Nobody likes waiting. Imagine, as your entire world is turned upside down and you’re told to just sit and wait. Following the events of Easter Sunday, Jesus told his followers to wait for something greater (Acts 1). As the men and women waited they turned to God in prayer. As we all deal with difficult circumstances in life, we can follow this in our lives – as we wait … pray. Turn to God and ask to make room in your heart for His love. You don’t have to wait alone.
This Easter Sunday, we look at the Christ hymn from that Paul wrote in his letter to the Philippians (Philippians 2:5-11). In these words, we are called to transform our mind and heart to the image of Jesus.
Don McLaughlin from North Atlanta Church of Christ came for a special visit and a message related to our theme for the year: We are more than conquerors through Him who loved us! (Romans 8:37) Listen to this message of love and hope in difficult times. For all of the problems that we face, there is a single answer: the love of God. The good news is Jesus loves you first and always and if we can put love first as God did imagine what a world we would have.
An oracle is a message from God and this week we turn to the oracle brought through Haggai – “Give careful thought to your ways” (Haggai 1:1-15). This is a timely message for the church as we must constantly reflect on our priorities and refocus our lives towards God. We must remember to seek first the kingdom of God and then these things will be given unto you (Matt 6:33).
