A hungry fox out for a walk spots some grapes hanging from a vine. Whilst he wouldn’t normally pick grapes to eat, he’s so hungry that he jumps up eagerly to grab them. After realising that he can’t reach them, the bitter and angry fox gives up, declaring that they must be sour anyway and not worth the effort. A clever crow has been observing the fox and points out that the grapes are, in fact, delicious and sweet and that the fox has been ungracious in his defeat.
Rudolph the reindeer is shunned by his reindeer pals because of his bright red nose. But one very snowy Christmas Eve, Rudolph’s nose is just the thing to Santa needs to lead his sleigh and help make sure the children of the world get their Christmas presents on time. A little girl called Heidi lives with her aunt. When her aunt gets a new job in the city, she takes Heidi to live with her grandpa in the mountains. It is a big change for Heidi, and Grandpa Alm is not very good at showing his emotions. However, Heidi soon settles into her new life in the countryside and is very happy. When Heidi’s aunt returns and declares that she is taking Heidi back to the city, to be homeschooled in the mansion where she is working, Heidi is sad. She doesn’t want to leave Grandpa Alm and their cosy little hut. But Grandpa Alm says it is better for her to go and get an education and learn to read and write. Heidi meets Clara, the little girl in the wheelchair who lives in the big mansion. They soon become good friends. But Heidi is homesick and misses her grandpa. Eventually it is decided that she must go back to the mountains where she will be happy. Clara comes to the mountains to visit Heidi. The happiness of being with her friend,combined with the healthy mountain air does Clara the world of good. With Heidi’s help and determination, Clara is soon able to walk her first steps in many years! Clara’s family are thrilled and promise to help the girls to maintain their friendship by bringing Clara to visit again the following summer.
