After hearing the podcast, a local Musical Theater director (Michael Price, The Simpsons) wants to turn Brian and Jack’s life story into a musical. Jack wants no part of it, but Brian is willing to sing his lungs out to prove he should play himself.

This episode features Emmy and Writers Guild award-winning writer Michael Price as “Paul McCartney,” the misleadingly-named director of local theater. Mr. Price’s latest show, F is for Family, is absolutely hilarious. You should check it out on Netflix right now if you haven’t already. Also if you have Disney Plus and want to check out some of his Simpsons episodes, I highly recommend “E Pluribus Wiggum,” the one where Ralph Wiggum runs for President, and “Mad About the Toy,” which won an Emmy!

Jack’s son was caught smoking pot by the Principal. The Principal stops by to give Jack a crash course in parenting, but Brian gets sidetracked by Star Wars references.

Brian hires the Norton University Mascot to cheer Jack up, but the Mascot has problems of his own.

This episode features Tim McGovern as Martin McGallister, the Mascot for Norton University (which as we all know is just a front for that greedy professor). Tim and I met in college and I remember immediately being impressed by how much younger and funnier than me he was. I was only 20 and I was already being replaced by a younger, hotter model. When I think of Tim playing “The Sea Rat,” Norton U’s mascot, it reminds me of another sea-faring adventure Tim once went on. In college he wrote a play called The Baleen Bessy, about a Moby Dick-ish whale-killing ship. Congrats to Tim on his recent engagement to Tulasi! We wish you happiness and love!

Our first special guest this week was Travis Irvine as Jimmy ‘Moondog’ Moon. Travis is a director, a comedian and an unsuccessful gubernatorial candidate. Travis and Mike met doing stand up comedy in Columbus Ohio. They soon started doing sketches together for the sketch show Monday Night Live. Brian finds himself in a complicated relationship with an OnlyFans model who is furious that Brian recorded her private shows. When Jack asks the model what her content is like, he is shocked by what she reveals.

On the first night Jack stayed in the Bunker, the half-brothers watched the Super Mario Brothers movie as a bonding experience. The quality of the movie almost tore them apart.

Matt here. I remember seeing this movie for the first time at an after-school program. I must’ve been in fourth or fifth grade. I’d already heard that a lady got turned into a skeleton, which freaked me out because it sounded so unlike the Mario games I loved. My parents hadn’t taken me to see it in the theater because they’d heard it was a trainwreck.

But in the darkened classroom in the elementary school basement, me and another kid whose mom ran the program watched the Super Mario Bros. movie. It was every bit as lousy as I’d heard. I tried to console myself by being happy that Yoshi made an appearance, even if it was lousy. Watching it again for this podcast I didn’t find it as brutally awful as I had as a kid. It was more frustrating than devastating. It’s amazing how something so ill-conceived could be created and carried through without anyone stopping it, especially from a company as conservative as Nintendo.
