After Brian writes an incendiary anti-cop Facebook post, a Secret Service member bangs on the door and demands to inspect the Bunker. Brian and Jack are forced to decide how far they’re willing to go to stay out of trouble with the federal government.
This episode features Simpsons writer extraordinaire Bill Oakley as Secret Service member Burke Grastle. We reached out to Bill and were shocked that he was nice enough to come on our show! We’re both big Simpsons fans, so this was a once-in-a-lifetime treat. Thank you so much, Bill! If you want to check out more of Bill’s stuff, check out his instagram and his twitter.
Bill is responsible for so many classic Simpsons moments and episodes! The popular Steamed Hams meme is based on a bit he wrote for the episode “22 Short Films About Springfield.” Bill co-wrote the amazingly prescient “Sideshow Bob Roberts” episode which pretty much predicted the rise of George W. Bush. (I almost wrote a paper on this in college because I was so mesmerized by the accuracy of the satire.) And who could forget Bart vs. Australia, an episode that gave us ‘doller-y-doos’ and Lisa’s line about the Yahoo Serious Festival: “I know those words, but that sign makes no sense.”
Bill has also worked on Mission Hill, Futurama, Portlandia, Disenchantment and a whole bunch of other stuff. He’s a genuine comedy legend. So the fact that he made time for us feels like a miracle.
In more serious news, we begin this episode with a sign of support for Black Lives Matter. We stand against police brutality.
