In the midst of troubled times, the church in Corinth needed to be reminded that their trouble is temporary. We too need that reminder. If we only lived life with what we saw, we'd have no hope for the future. Living a life of faith gives us hope to be protected by God in times to come.

There's something that can be learned about the fragility of life and the treasure that is within us from a sports legend and Muslim theologian.

Paul's second letter to the church in Corinth may have been to a conflicted community, however it (and we today) should find encouragement in the Holy Spirit.

As we continue our look through 2 Corinthians we see how forgiveness isn't just an act between two individuals. It is a way of life that benefits a whole community. God is generous in forgiving us and we share that generosity with all whom we meet.

We often think that divisions are bad for the health of the church. Are they?

We often think of 1 Corinthians in the context of a marraige ceremony (where people are supposed to love each other.) For Paul though, it was written in the midst of bitter conflict. The church in Corinth fought a lot, this is how we are live together, not just with those we get along with, particularly we are to live this way with those we struggle with.

How can preaching be better than baptism? Baptism is what is supposed to bind us together. Maybe what really should bind us together is what is central to our faith. By discerning what really is central, and proclaiming that, we can find the unity that baptism really calls us to.

Where would you put yourself in the story?

The disciples never expected all that Jesus did. Sometimes we don't expect Jesus to really be active in our lives. What we can expect from Jesus is health, restoration, resurrection and satisfaction.
