When we sin, we often end up in an awful place of shame and embarrassment. The Bible teaches that failure doesn't need to be the end of the story. What comes next is the most important!

Our stories of adventure begin the same way--ordinary life is interrupted by a call, and the call demands a decision. As we worship today, we'll consider the call of Christ and our response to him.

Have you ever noticed how much of the Bible is spent in telling the story of a journey? The Christian life is a journey of sorts. There is a destination and there are fellow travelers, and plenty of obstacles and victories along the way.

If you've ever taken a road trip with kids, you've heard THAT question more than once. Why is it that we don't ask it about our spiritual journeys? What would it mean to be "holy discontent"?

We're on the way! Last week we talked about "where," so this week, we look at "how." How are we getting where we want to go?

It's obvious that we live in divided and divisive times. If we're not careful, the church will begin to mirror culture. Division will creep in quickly--and church history about division isn't encouraging, either. This week, we'll look at how we, at Burns, can stay together in times that keep us apart.

It's time for us to make some spiritual progress. We can't wish our lives away in the rearview mirror. We must get about the business of the gospel!

When it seems like everything else falls apart, 1 Corinthians 13 reminds us that love never fails.

As this year draws to a close, we look forward to the promises of God in the new year.

Tomorrow night's "Christmas star" has us thinking about the original star of Bethlehem. What was it? What did it mean? Why does it matter? What is God teaching us?
