  • Episode 34: Featuring Francesco Rulli
"There is nothing greater in life than empowering others to succeed. Artificial Intelligence is my tool of choice to help people achieve their personal aspirations."
Francesco Rulli, Founder, and CEO have leveraged a life-long interest in entrepreneurship, media, fashion, and technology. Previous enterprises include the John Malkovich fashion line, and Film Annex, an online film distribution company. The company promoted independent films with revenues generated through a custom ad server and player. The site hosted 300k independent films that reached up to 40 million viewers per month.
Other business ventures soon followed. BitLanders, a social media platform with 1 million registered users. Now an industry leader in gamification, BitLanders has several pending patents, including the content ranking system Buzz Score, and BitMiles, a rewarding system inspired by the Medici family’s double ledger accounting system.
Francesco is a board member of the GMRF, an organization which aids children who have lost the use of limbs or eyes or have been severely burned, injured due to war, natural disaster or illness. Francesco’s philanthropic efforts extend to Afghanistan, where he sponsored the construction of 13 classrooms, providing young women with the tools and opportunities of digital citizenship. This project led to the introduction of Bitcoin payments in 2013. Francesco has since cast his eye on Dubai, a city committed to becoming a leader in artificial intelligence.
In 2015, Francesco launched Querlo providing a robust environment for “conversational AI” and data performance analytics. Applying proprietary software, Francesco and his team developed tools to improve interactions between customers, employees, and brands. Today, the chatbots employ algorithms that mimic the neural connections of the human brain, a revolutionary development that promises to unify the arts and sciences with technology, long the dream of an Italian-American born and raised in Florence.

  • Episode 33: Featuring John Rockefeller
The appearance of SARS-CoV-02 has given Global Health Epidemiology it's most challenging foe since HIV/AIDS. It has moved through the global populace with purpose, and strength. It has also introduced us to the term "syndemic" during it's first 6 months of ubiquitious expansion. With these novel, and medically brutal, challenges ahead we are seeing the most dangerous set of co-morbidities in medical history. We are currently at the starting line of what will become a battle for a new set of constructs for human survival with multiple Covid outflows. The concept of Covid combining with TB, Hep B/C, Malaria, all NCD's, in LMIC's and increasing chronicity of preexisting morbidities, will put us squarely in the crosshairs of yet another Global Health mortality spike. We need to push our diagnostic platforms with testing and data compilation to control, and prepare for what lies ahead. At this point in time (10/20) there is an incredible spike in Mental Health comorbidities that is creating a need for vast expansion of mental health practitioners to join with the Infectious Disease Docs to reign in the depression, despair and anxiety that is sure to lead beyond what the first rung of the SARS-CoV-02 ladder has already served us with. The time to act on all SARS-CoV-02 fronts is our mandate. This is not a battle for vaccines, it is a battle for human life, and human potential through a minefield of novel co-morbid medical brushfires. The concepts of vaccine, anti-viral agents, and symptomatic cures will only be the start, as we travel down the wormhole of the most epic battle in disease complexity. Global Health organizations will need funding for increased preparedness and control for systems already severely challenged. These challenges will define Global Health for the coming decades. Our innovation and outcomes will create the level of our resiliance for the coming century. The most challenging landscapes for the opening salvos in this public health challenge will be fought in large institutions, particularly in schools and the high density populations of the urban core. To be successful, we need to overprepare, rather than assume our medical knowledge to be historically logical. SARS-CoV-02 is an entirely new landscape, and should be treated as such. The rise of this syndemic will continue to create novel infection rates and comorbidities until we focus with more innovation and intention across all political landscapes, and all geographies. We are now, most certainly, entering the Covid Century.

In 2015, I became depressed over the state of affairs. Political rhetoric was out of control, hate crimes were up 67% and things seemed dismal at best. One day after reaching my breaking point I called my little brother Brad and I cried on the phone for almost 2 hours about all of the negativity. My brother didn’t know what to do or say but he sent me a meme. It was a picture of a little guinea pig wearing heart shaped glasses and it read “I can’t see the haters with my love glasses on”.
It was at that moment that I decided to go out and buy a pair of heart shaped glasses. I felt like it was a shield to go out in the world and that if anyone said or did anything negative to me, I would be ready. However, that is not what happened…not even close.
I would wear my love glasses to the grocery store and it never failed that someone would say, “Oh I love your heart shaped sunglasses!” and I would respond “they are my love glasses!” and then they would ask “Where can I get some?” Each and every time I went out I would have an interaction and it was often times around my glasses. Things started to change and I looked forward to going out and find new people to meet and share a kind word or a smile.
