Well as expected the SARB has kept repo rates unchanged at its first monetary policy meeting for the year. This comes as the Reserve Bank Governor, Lesetja Kganyago said that there was an improvement in the near-term inflation, partly boosted by a decline in global oil prices. Retail sales grew at 3.1% year-on-year in November with the largest annual growth rates recorded for retailers in household furniture, appliances and equipment.
