"I don't know what's creepier a bang on the door or a prolonged soft knock as as to not disturb you."
--Kevin
Bill Paxton is dead. Long live Bill Paxton. Intern Tony has all but forced us to watch the un-sci-fi sci-fi Spike Jonze movie HER. Thank God he did because it's a fantastic movie and we get into the philosophical nitty gritty of it all. We do what we do. We ask the questions. What does this movie say about relationships? What does it say about Artificial Intelligence? What does it say about us? Our future.
Join us.

It can be argued that no genre suits the template of short film or story better than Science Fiction. It CAN be argued, but who likes to fight? Kevin and George watch two AWARD WINNING Sci-Fi shorts, PRISM and GOLDILOCKS.
See if they're up to snuff. Whatever snuff is and whatever one has to do to be UP to it. Enjoy.

As if George's life wasn't busy enough, his favorite Russian film making antagonist is back from beyond the grave. Kevin and George sit down, crack a bottle of non-flavored seltzer (thanks, Vic) and talk about Andrei Tarkovsky's iconic masterpiece STALKER.
Meditative. Beautiful. Mesmerizing. But, science fiction? Well, it doesn't really matter. Take the trip with us as we unwind what this moving piece of art did for our minds and for our souls.

A little change in the pace of things seems appropriate right now. Even more appropriate right now is the Ray Bradbury short story There Will Come Soft Rains. I'm not sure why, but here we are. Listening to one of my favorite science fiction shorts read aloud in my own voice. I feel lucky today. Lucky that I do not live in the empty world this story depicts. Fortunate to know that we, as a race, can get to this precipice again.

PASSENGERS is essentially a string of missed opportunities masquerading as a sci-fi romance. Listen as Kevin and George practice their gift of being able to telegraph a better movie than the one they are currently watching.

A non-STAR WARSy Star Wars movie that somehow ends up being more STAR and WARS than any of the previous movies, you say? Is this a good thing? Do we need a world in which these stories are explored, or is ROGUE ONE just an example of Gareth Edward's and Disney using the Star Wars brand to show us just another director's take on a tired war movie trope. There are blasters. There are lightsabers. There is sand flying everywhere. Join Kevin and George, the BUSY DADDIES, as we sit down and talk about ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY.

Off the BBC and straight to Netflix. There was a time when that was NOT a good thing, but for Season 3 of the fantastic Sci-Fi series BLACK MIRROR it's a great thing.
We talk about each of the six episodes of the most recent season. Which was our favorites? Which ones fell short of the standard set for storytelling by the first 2 seasons? Most importantly: is George ever going to pick a book to read?
Let's find out!

Kevin and George talk about ARRIVAL starring Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner and Forrest Whitaker. They compare it to the sci-fi short STORY OF YOUR LIFE by Ted Chiang on which it is based while posing some of the bigger questions the movie sets forth to themselves. Come and listen to our best Heptapod impersonations.

It's okay. The world is NOT coming to and end. At least not the way you think that it's going to. Kevin and George take to the microphone to discuss Duncan Jones' 2009 epic MOON starring multiple Sam Rockwells. Somehow we make it through the entire podcast with out discussing whether or not Sam Rockwell is handsome or not. He's not.

Jason Voorhees' most dangerous adversary was, and always will be, a little boy in glasses that likes to make scary masks.
In honor of Halloween, BUSY DADDY George takes you on a nostalgia trip through his experience growing up with the Friday the 13th movies. Specifically, the joy of searching between the cracks in those movies for the genius that lies within. Find out who Tommy Jarvis is, besides the boy that conquered a monster that no one else could.
Enjoy and HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
