With Kaitlyn back from vacation, the whole gang’s here to discuss Racing’s last 2 games, which included an impressive 1-0 defeat of Gotham and a disappointing 1-0 loss to the Seattle Reign. What changed from one match to the next? How will the team fare against Angel City next weekend? All this, plus new Mint Mix additions and a passionate discussion on the (lack of) marketing around the team.

Kaitlyn’s away so Tom and Bekki have a little too much fun discussing the big four-point road trip against Portland and Houston while simultaneously trying to name-drop every Derby and Oaks horse that competed in this year’s run for the roses.

Did we want to talk about the last few weeks in Racing world? Not really. But we can’t quit this team, so we decided to rip the band-aid off. In this case, the band-aid in question is the pair of losses against the Washington Spirit and San Diego Wave, which brought Racing’s record to 1-3-1. We talk about those rough results, the team’s overreliance on rookies, and what we still look forward to when attending games. We laugh, we commiserate, Tom may or may not do a Kermit impression–this week’s episode has it all.

Two games into the season and Tom, Bekki, and Kaitlyn wonder whether our concerns about player availability and results are underreactions or overreactions. It’s not all worries, though, as Kaitlyn adds great songs to the Mint Mix and we find plenty of positives in the first two games to celebrate.

This week we’re missing our resident WoSo expert Bekki Morgan, and for that Tom and Kaitlyn apologize (yes, to you, knowledgeable WoSo listeners, but also to Ángela Barón, who we absolutely hope to see in Racing’s backline when she’s back to 100%!). We’re back with season four of BTRD and our feelings about the upcoming season are, well, complicated. Tom, Bekki, and Kaitlyn have plenty to be positive about but also have some questions about the team’s ambition and lack of signings during the offseason. Is Racing positioned for a step forward?
