With Tom Benson out on an excused absence, Kaitlyn and Bekki talk about Racing’s performance during the break and what they need to do to keep momentum against the Kansas City Current and other tough teams. An injury to Lo Milliet doesn’t help things, so does Racing have what it takes to stay in the playoff race?

The BTRD crew took the last month off for summer break but we’re back this week with a discussion of Racing’s triumphant defeat of Orlando at home, the re-signing of key midfielder Taylor Flint through 2028, and our thoughts on the season so far (as well as the exhibition match against Lexington SC). A 3-2 win against Utah and a 4-2 loss against Kansas City mark Racing’s most recent results and, for now, Big Purp is hanging out in a playoff spot. Can they hold onto it with no less than four other teams capable of making the jump over them in the next week? Bekki, Tom, and Kaitlyn also break down all the pending free agents for Racing and collectively ask the front office to DO SOMETHING when it comes to announcing player extensions.

With Kaitlyn back from vacation, the whole gang’s here to discuss Racing’s last 2 games, which included an impressive 1-0 defeat of Gotham and a disappointing 1-0 loss to the Seattle Reign. What changed from one match to the next? How will the team fare against Angel City next weekend? Kaitlyn’s away so Tom and Bekki have a little too much fun discussing the big four-point road trip against Portland and Houston while simultaneously trying to name-drop every Derby and Oaks horse that competed in this year’s run for the roses.

Did we want to talk about the last few weeks in Racing world? Not really. But we can’t quit this team, so we decided to rip the band-aid off. In this case, the band-aid in question is the pair of losses against the Washington Spirit and San Diego Wave, which brought Racing’s record to 1-3-1. We talk about those rough results, the team’s overreliance on rookies, and what we still look forward to when attending games. We laugh, we commiserate, Tom may or may not do a Kermit impression–this week’s episode has it all.

Two games into the season and Tom, Bekki, and Kaitlyn wonder whether our concerns about player availability and results are underreactions or overreactions. It’s not all worries, though, as Kaitlyn adds great songs to the Mint Mix and we find plenty of positives in the first two games to celebrate.
