Butter With That

New month...new theme! Since it's November we each picked movies that deal with FOOD and FAMILY. Connor's pick is one of his favorite movies, 2017's LOGAN. Ooohh boy Wolverine is old and violent and he has to learn how to be a dad. And the government is poisoning corn syrup (probs real). For his White Board Question, Connor asks Team Butter to pick a character and give them the "Old Man Logan" treatment.

Hey Butter Fans! As we are prepping for a new theme, we thought it would be fun to release another trivia ep! Will Dave keep his Butter Belt? Can newcomer Alyssa dethrone the Butter Crew?? Be sure to listen to find out!

Oooooooo Spooooooooky!!! Welcome to our Halloween episode! This week we talk about spooky movies and focus on Rosemary's Baby. A film Tori recently hosted at Ritz Landmark Theater! We are also joined by our first ever guest star...Alyssa from AlyssaArts and Witchpath podcast!

This week, Team Butter wraps up our month of personal favorites by discussing the PT Anderson classic, There Will Be Blood. Dave's pick is an intense and epic deconstruction of American capitalism and religion, through the focal point of Daniel Day-Lewis' Daniel Plainview. Hear us discuss the nature of villains in cinema, the powerful performances and production design, and Dave's personal history with this film.

P.S. Be sure to check out instagram for a special surprise this week!!

This week on Butter With That, Sam brings her favorite movie Big Fish to the group. This outlier in Tim Burton's filmography generated a lot of meaningful discussion about father-son relationships, the nature of story telling, and how Burton most likely used this film to work through the death of his own parents. For our White Board Question segment, Sam asks us to tell each other what our favorite movies say about us.

This week, Team Butter discusses Chrystine's favorite movie of all time...BLADE RUNNER! How well does Blade Runner resonate today, how did Ridley Scott pull of those sets and effects, and how problematic is that "love" scene are all questions we try to answer! Additionally, Chrystine asks us to pick our favorite example of artificial intelligence in a movie.

This week, Team Butter talks about Tori's favorite movie, John Carpenter's THE THING! Listen to us gush over the film's practical effects, interesting production details, and how much we all love Kurt Russell. Tori also asks us to name our favorite (we could only pick one!) practical effects in cinema, which might have been the hardest White Board Question that's ever ben asked cause there are so many good ones!

One year ago, September 2018, we released our very first episode of Butter With That! In that first ep, we each named our favorite films and now for our new theme....we are discussing those picks! #FULLCIRCLE

This week, TeamButter discusses Jurassic Park, Connor's favorite movie. Hear us gush about this true modern classic and everything we love about it, especially Jeff Goldblum and Sam Neill! Inspired by Hammond's line, "Spare no expense." Connor asks everyone to pitch their own vanity project where they would...ya know the line.

This week, Team Butter wraps up its "Back to School" theme by discussing Sam's pick...Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Listen to us discuss the period setting of the movie, the phrase "bohemian", and whether or not this movie be utterly-BLEEEEEP! Oh wait, we should probably not spoil that part of the episode! To wrap up, Sam asks us to talk about our favorite teachers and how they have impacted our lives.

We have something very special this week for our dedicated ButterFam! On this episode of Butter With That, Dave goes solo to discuss the Netflix reboots (?) of Nickelodeon classics Rocko's Modern Life and Invader Zim.
