  • I Appreciate What @Arcade1UpOfficial Is Doing To Make Sure Everyone Has A Chance To Play These Games

From still releasing re-releases of classic arcade cabinets, to more portable ones with the couch-cades, and counter-cades, to the mini tabletop arcade cabinets.

I hope they do more of this in the future.  I just wish they would've thought of doing this when they first started selling re-releases of classic arcade cabinets.

  • PWInsider & Fightful Select reported details on the all-talent meeting led by Triple H.

    From Fightful Select of 1-13-2023:

"Triple H held a talent meeting at Smackdown on January 13 that helped calm the nerves of some talent..

Since Vince McMahon forced himself back into the company, there have been numerous talent concerned about their creative futures. Triple H said that he's been assured that Vince McMahon's return is to see if the company should sell, and help lead the charge and figure out who they might sell the company to if they do. He made an attempt to squash the story of a sale being a "done deal," and said even if it happened, it would take a lot longer.

What calmed many talent's concerns, was Triple H stating that none of what is going on with Vince McMahon will change the creative process he has in place, or the team that helps put it together. Triple H did keep it open and say that anything could change, but right now Vince McMahon defers final creative to Triple H. Triple H also said that while he and Vince McMahon may have discussions, he makes the final call. WWE was adamant in an official sense to us this week that Triple H was still running creative.

Triple H also thanked the talent for all they do and said he understood that there was some concern.

UPDATE: We've also discovered that Kevin Dunn spoke at the talent meeting. He said that he'd worked for Vince McMahon for 40 years and since coming back Vince hasn't said a peep to him about making changes. We had heard that Vince had made suggestions regarding other departments, but that it wasn't implemented.

Dunn largely reiterated Triple H's points. It was said by many that this was a "calm down" meeting."

  • "Spike At Your Service" Laid The Foundation For AppleSpike (Applejack x Spike) To Become A Thing (THE 550TH PODCAST!)

    (Recorded on 2-24-2021) WE'VE REACHED 550 PODCASTS!

And that's pretty much the truth.

I mean when you look at where the AppleSpike ship came from, that being one of THE most talked about fan/fim-fiction audio dramas/web-comics in recent memory (Bride of Discord, and Daughter of Discord), then that's hard to argue with.

Especially, when  @DisneyFanatic2364  used "Spike At Your Service" as the foundation and starting point for this ship to become a fanon-canon romance amongst the fandom.

And on top of that, one of THE most popular and beloved ships in the fandom.

So with this podcast, I will explain why that is.

  • FTC Proposes Rule to Ban Noncompete Clauses Which Hurt Workers and Harm Competition. WWE Affected?
This is from The FTC's own website:
"The Federal Trade Commission proposed a new rule that would ban employers from imposing noncompetes on their workers, a widespread and often exploitative practice that suppresses wages, hampers innovation, and blocks entrepreneurs from starting new businesses. By stopping this practice, the agency estimates that the new proposed rule could increase wages by nearly $300 billion per year and expand career opportunities for about 30 million Americans.
The FTC is seeking public comment on the proposed rule, which is based on a preliminary finding that noncompetes constitute an unfair method of competition and therefore violate Section 5 of the Federal Trade Commission Act.
NPRM: Noncompete Infographic. An estimated* 18% of U.S. workers are covered by noncompetes.
“The freedom to change jobs is core to economic liberty and to a competitive, thriving economy,” said Chair Lina M. Khan. “Noncompetes block workers from freely switching jobs, depriving them of higher wages and better working conditions, and depriving businesses of a talent pool that they need to build and expand. By ending this practice, the FTC’s proposed rule would promote greater dynamism, innovation, and healthy competition.”
Companies use noncompetes for workers across industries and job levels, from hairstylists and warehouse workers to doctors and business executives. In many cases, employers use their outsized bargaining power to coerce workers into signing these contracts. Noncompetes harm competition in U.S. labor markets by blocking workers from pursuing better opportunities and by preventing employers from hiring the best available talent.
“Research shows that employers’ use of noncompetes to restrict workers’ mobility significantly suppresses workers’ wages—even for those not subject to noncompetes, or subject to noncompetes that are unenforceable under state law," said Elizabeth Wilkins, Director of the Office of Policy Planning. “The proposed rule would ensure that employers can’t exploit their outsized bargaining power to limit workers’ opportunities and stifle competition.”
The evidence shows that noncompete clauses also hinder innovation and business dynamism in multiple ways—from preventing would-be entrepreneurs from forming competing businesses, to inhibiting workers from bringing innovative ideas to new companies. This ultimately harms consumers; in markets with fewer new entrants and greater concentration, consumers can face higher prices—as seen in the health care sector.
To address these problems, the FTC’s proposed rule would generally prohibit employers from using noncompete clauses. Specifically, the FTC’s new rule would make it illegal for an employer to:
    enter into or attempt to enter into a noncompete with a worker;
maintain a noncompete with a worker; or
represent to a worker, under certain circumstances, that the worker is subject to a noncompete.
The proposed rule would apply to independent contractors and anyone who works for an employer, whether paid or unpaid. It would also require employers to rescind existing noncompetes and actively inform workers that they are no longer in effect.
The proposed rule would generally not apply to other types of employment restrictions, like non-disclosure agreements. However, other types of employment restrictions could be subject to the rule if they are so broad in scope that they function as noncompetes.
This NPRM aligns with the FTC’s recent statement to reinvigorate Section 5 of the FTC Act, which bans unfair methods of competition. The FTC recently used its Section 5 authority to ban companies from imposing onerous noncompetes on their workers. In one complaint, the FTC took action against a Michigan-based security guard company and its key executives for using coercive noncompetes on low-wage employees. The Commission also ordered two of the largest U.S. glass container manufacturers to stop imposing noncompetes on their workers because they obst

  • Tony and Shahid Khan, Co-owners of AEW Interested in Buying WWE?

    https://www.fightful.com/wrestling/report-tony-and-shad-khan-pool-potential-wwe-buyers-likely-look-financial-partner

"Barron's, a sister publication to the Wall Street Journal, has reported that Tony Khan and his father, Shad, are among the names 'in the pool' of potential suitors looking to buy WWE. Tony Khan had previously stated that he is closely following Vince McMahon's return to WWE.

Per the report, the Khan family will likely look for a financial partner if they are to acquire WWE as an asset.

In addition to the Khan family owning the Jacksonville Jaguars and Fulham FC, Tony Khan purchased Ring of Honor in March 2022, presiding over the company as ROH held its most profitable pay-per-view events in its 20-year history.

The report also names Endeavor and Comcast as potential buyers but notes that an offer from the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund is more likely, given WWE has a previous relationship with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Rumors circulated of WWE reaching an agreement with the Saudi Arabian PIF on the night of Tuesday, January 10. As a result, WWE stock rose 3.4% on the morning of Wednesday, January 11, but as no confirmation of a deal surfaced, the stock closed 0.8% lower. WWE has not issued a public comment regarding any potential deal.

Reportedly, any deal to purchase WWE is likely to be in the range of billions of dollars. Barron's cited Benchmark’s Mike Hickey, who wrote on January 6, "We think…market consideration related to the value of live content creates an optimal setting for an acquisition attempt... We think that now is the time to buy WWE. Business momentum is strong, and future growth prospects appear promising."

CNBC later reported that the Khan family would be interested in merging AEW with WWE. The report also states that the Khans would be open to Vince McMahon having a potential role in the company after sale. It is, however, noted that AEW hasn’t had talks with McMahon or Nick Khan.

Vince McMahon officially became executive chairman of the board on Tuesday, January 10. On that same day, Stephanie McMahon resigned from her position as Co-CEO of WWE.

WWE announced on January 12 that they retained The Raine Group, LLC as a financial advisor, Kirkland & Ellis LLP as a legal advisor, and August LLC as a strategic communications advisor to support WWE’s management team in connection with a review of strategic alternatives to maximize the value of the company and shareholders. Vince McMahon's return to power has already resulted in legal action being put forth against him by one of WWE's shareholders. Fans can read more about that situation here."

  • WWE CEO Nick Khan met with Disney CEO Bob Iger & ESPN President James Pitaro for talks on buying WWE

    https://wdwnt.com/2023/01/nick-khan-meets-with-bob-iger-espn-president-wwe/ :

"World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) CEO Nick Khan met with The Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Iger and ESPN President James Pitaro about potentially selling them WWE, Dave Meltzer said on Wrestling Observer.

As we recently reported, The Walt Disney Company and Comcast are among the potential buyers for WWE, which is looking to sell. Other potential buyers include Netflix, Fox (who sold many of its entertainment assets to Disney in 2019), Warner Bros, and Amazon. According to CNBC, there are three categories of potential buyers for WWE, which has a market cap of more than $6 billion: legacy media companies, streamers, and entertainment holding companies.

Meltzer said Khan met with Bob Iger and James Pitaro on Monday, January 9 in Los Angeles at the College Football Playoff National Championship game.

Meltzer also said the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund is interested. Some have reported that Saudi Arabia has already purchased WWE, but Khan hasn’t made a deal with any company yet. WWE is looking to sell by the middle of the year.

Khan was co-CEO with Stephanie McMahon until January 10, when she stepped down, and he became sole CEO. McMahon’s father, former CEO and chairman of WWE Vince McMahon, recently returned to the board of directors in an effort to help facilitate a sale. McMahon stepped down after an investigation revealed that he paid nearly $15 million dollars to different women over the course of 16 years to keep allegations of sexual misconduct and infidelity silent. But returning to the board will “give potential buyers confidence he’s supportive of the details of any transaction,” according to CNBC.

“With Nick’s leadership and Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque as chief content officer, I am confident WWE is in the perfect place to continue to provide unparalleled creative content and drive maximum value for shareholders,” Stephanie McMahon wrote on Twitter about her resignation."
