  • How To Protect Your Businesses' Largest Investment

Whether you're leasing or purchasing, real estate is one of the largest line items for any business. However, many times business owners don't do their due diligence before purchasing or signing their lease.

Rosanna 'RoRo' Hudson of NU Star Real Estate Strategies joins Lindsay on this episode to talk all things commercial real estate. She talks about some of the biggest mistakes business owners make, and why it's so important to have proper representation before moving forward with any real estate transaction.

Plus it's not just landlords or sellers that you have to watch out for, but you'll also need help to make sure you understand the zoning of your building.

  • Using Cybersecurity to Keep Hackers Away

Many businesses fall under the assumption that since they're small, or because they don't deal with a whole lot of client data, they're immune to potential cyber-attacks.

Hacking is a $3.5 Billion Dollar industry in the United States alone and over $6 Trillion worldwide. Their job is to find vulnerabilities and then hold your data hostage. It may be worth a few thousand or several million to them, but the fact is they're looking and you could be at risk.

In this episode of By the Books, Lindsay welcomes Managing Director of Cyberware AI, Jon Poteet. Jon talks about why every business, no matter how small should be thinking about cyber security, and some things you can do right now to help ensure the safety of your company.

He also discusses why attacks are on the rise, and shares some stories about customers he's had to help in times of crisis.

  • 1099K Forms: Tackling the Confusion

In true IRS form, they are on a mission to try to collect more tax revenue. Part of that revenue comes in the form of the payments we, as a society, have grown to love because of the convenience. Those payments include things like Venmo, Cash App, Paypal, etc.

The requirement for a 1099K to be sent is when payments of $600 are received. So what happens when you go on a vacation, and your friend pays you $750 via Venmo for their portion of the AirBnB? Are you required to report that income?

It's about to get complicated, and unfortunately, the rules don't make it very clear. In this episode of By the Books, Lindsay is joined by Trey Rush, Owner of Pay Tech Plus. They break down these new rules, what businesses should expect, and some of the things that you can do now to help to keep this gray area as black and white as possible.

  • Why Your Business Needs A Content Strategy

Whether it's you being the face and voice of your business, or hiring a team to help, your business needs a content strategy. Content is one of the easiest ways to build a know, like, and trust relationship with potential clients, help your business get discovered, and help customers quickly determine whether or not they want to work with you.

Even though every company should have a content strategy, it doesn't mean that they do.

In this episode of By the Books, Lindsay sits down with Erin Gregor, Co-Founder of Innovation Media Enterprises, a podcast production and growth strategy company.

They discuss why content, whether it's written, a podcast, or video, can have a huge impact on your business, and why you might be overthinking putting yourself and your business out there.
