This week I introduce you to Susan Hensley, who, at the end of our conversation, was surprised to understand that a couple of the stories she shared this week had to do with storms, or tempests...those wild weather events that sometimes shake us to our core! Susan shares a really potent story of what happened on a family vacation in Hawaii, and how she emerged on the other side of that vacation irrevocably changed.

It's the perfect time to share this quotation from THE TEMPEST by Shakespeare, “We are such stuff as dreams are made on, and our little life is rounded with a sleep.” We are made of dreams, little ones, and understanding that, I think, gives us that much more power over our lives. Understanding that we are made of stardust, dreams, wishes and hopes, and that all of this combines to create each of us in such singular ways...well, the sky's the limit for how we can shape and create beauty in this reality. Greetings my friends-it's another weekend and that means another episode of the pod is dropping! This one is a doozy and has echoes of JAWS, but JAWS if friendship, trust and spearfishing were all happening at once (oh, and if the person being attacked survives, of course!) And he does, because Tim Thomas wouldn't be able to be a guest and tell his story unless he lived to tell the tale!

Tim is an extraordinary human being-and you'll hear all about it when you listen to the pod-he is an avid supporter of Vets and does much work with multiple organizations to ensure that those who have been in the services are not left behind, are not forgotten and not given short shrift. He endeavors to ensure they have the care and emotional support they need-you can read all about Tim's work here, on his website! He is a big believer in breath work saying, "breathwork improved the quality of his sleep, especially when he was serving with the Special Forces in Afghanistan." As well, you can watch a video of Tim jumping into a giant barrel of water and ice-the cold dipping we talk about in the episode. Every time I go to the Oregon Coast I pick up garbage on the beach-I figure if I don't then who will? It's a simple act that if 1000's did the same, our beaches and lands would be so much cleaner. This simple act, bending over and picking up one piece of trash, can change everything! xo

I loved this film...and this is just a bit of it...because the topic it talked about, the destruction of our natural world, hit hard as a kid. I was changed forever, and perhaps, it still shapes me. Yes, Dr. Seuss is a controversial figure...and has a darker reputation than when I was a kid, but this movie is relevant still, and urges us all to be better stewards of our environment. And that, we should be grateful to Dr. Seuss for, because honestly? We need the reminder!
