תרופות ביוסימילריות הן העתקה של תרופות ביולוגיות. בניגוד לתרופות גנריות, שהן העתק מדויק של מולקולה קטנה עם כל קשריה,

כאן מדובר בחומר ביולוגי, מולקולה גדולה ומורכבת, שלא צפויה להיות זהה לחלוטין, ולכן נדרוש הוכחה שמבחינה ביולוגית, ואף קלינית, השפעתה דומה מאוד לתרופה המקורית.

כדוגמה נדבר על תרופות ביוסימילריות נוגדות קרישה, אחת מהן הזכרנו כבר בפרק הקודם על הריון במצב של קרישיות יתר גנטית, והשנייה נוגדת דלקת.
