Religion says, Change and you can join us. Jesus says, Join us and you will change. There's a huge difference. Jesus doesn't expect you to be perfect. He just wants you to follow him. Being a messed up doesn't disqualify you from following him. Being an unbeliever doesn't disqualify you from following him. In fact, following almost always begins with someone taking one small step. Whether it’s your kid’s future and safety, your retirement or even just wanting to take over the remote or steering wheel because you could do a better job, we all have a little control freak in us. The problem is there are times when every one of us want to sit in the driver's seat of life and grip the steering wheel too tightly. We want to steer problems out of our lives. We want to steer other people into doing exactly what we want them to do. We want to steer clear of pain and difficulties and take the easy road in life. There's NO win in COMPARISON. Let's face it. Not a day goes by that you're not tempted to glance to the left and to the right to see how you measure up to the people around you. But it doesn't stop there, does it? You're tempted to compare your children to other children, your spouse to other spouses! It's frustrating. It's exhausting. It’s a trap that will kill you if you don’t learn to kill it first.

Sometimes it's good when things don't add up. When God is in the equation, we can end up with a lot more than we expected.
