A new report from CalMatters shows that California’s averages more than $132,000 in spending for each person kept in prison, per year. That amount is 90% higher than the cost to imprison someone just ten years ago in 2014. Joining us to discuss is Brian Kaneda, the Deputy Director of Californians United for a Responsible Budget (CURB), which is an organization dedicated to reducing imprisonment in our state by developing deep economic analyses about how it’s actually financially better for all of us, to reduce prisons.
