Jan Indra and his guest talked about ICA`s mission and values, the impact of COVID-19 on customer due diligence or AML, cooperation with both private and public sector stakeholders, the emergence of new technology and its impact on financial crime prevention, or the importance of developing communication skills for Compliance Officers and the ability to work together with an organization`s top management on sending the right message throughout the company with respect to its corporate culture, compliance and ethics.
„We talk to our members all around the world and they tell us really loudly: „We want more about how to win the hearts and minds of their business, how to communicate with them properly, how to engage them…I know a lot of compliance people that tended to say „you need to do this because it`s the law or regulation and if you don`t you`ll get a fine”, and that might be true but that doesn`t really get people in the business engaged. They need to know why it`s the right thing to do and why it makes commercial sense as well. So we do a lot on the diploma course level especially about how to make compliance into a competitive advantage, says Pekka Dare on how ICA approaches the communication skills aspect of compliance education.
