WOKEY POKEY LAND - the upside down where anything and everything goes...
A mixed media musical parody by Rosangel Perez that captures the raw, heartfelt story of coping with life in New York City during the 2020 global lockdown, where everything stopped and so many things went dark. A time where people were encouraged to stay home, comply and not question.
Through music, drumming, parodies, word play & Guest Collaborations, Rosangel shares a deeply personal and vulnerable journey that will make you laugh, dance, and perhaps shed a tear. It will remind you that God and beauty do exist and that a "small" voice can still stand strong even when the rest of her is shaking and shaken.
Help us bring this unique storytelling experience to life!
Dedicated to the arts and all of those creative hearts who have a story to share. Don't die with the music inside you.
Budget: TBA
Money will be used for production costs.

SYNOPSIS:
Five Years Ago, we went into a NEW Normal that has forever changed all of our lives. Seems like a different time. Another life.
Back in 2020, The Perez Sisters spoke out and questioned the narratives / propaganda that Politicians, Fauci, and the media pushed for example. Because weāre boots on the ground, people started sending us messages and videos with information that challenged the daily rhetoric we were hearing.
These were either first hand accounts or messages from Doctors who were making other discoveries and were also trying to share their findings on social media. When we realized Doctors were getting censored, things started feeling and looking even more suspicious.
We hit the streets to learn for ourselves, interviewed folks who were boots on the ground and had other insights people needed and wanted to hear.
PEROā¦. many times we would live stream or post on Youtube, we would get strikes, our videos would get pulled down or the audio would get removed while livestreaming.
How can we forget all of the crazy censorship we experienced on Facebook, which was accompanied with ridicule and shaming by some of our peers.
Linkedin also censored some of our posts.
We lost our channel on Instagram 10 times.
Being media professionals and life long community advocates, you can not imagine how hard this hit below the belt. We had people in our community who celebrated our take downs. One person said, we were poisoning the platform.
We lost work connections.
We lost work opportunities.
Family and Friends shunned us / stopped talking to us.
We had to close our business down after 9 years.
We lost our livelihood.
To this day, we are still battling the censorship.
Thereās so much to say / write / express So.
I will keep it simple for the sake of time.
Despite the setbacks, we create, we love, and we share.
in the best way I / we know how, thru music, song, parodies and words that inspire y mas.
The world might have stopped and gone dark in 2020, but many hearts and lights were activated.
This is one story of many...

Brooklyn Lessons
āIt was sort of like, I have to say, sometimes I didn't love it because sometimes it felt like hazing, right? But it did kind of prepare me to be out there in the world, in different settings, because when you're in school, there's always going to be someone who's not going to be politically correct or sometimes maybe can come across a little bit like a bully, right? And also, too, in the workforce, the competition, you know, shining. There's so many dynamics that get played in the business world too, that if, when I look back, I am grateful, even though, like I said, I didn't love every experience, but I'm grateful that we got that training from the family and that we got that training from Brooklyn because Brooklyn, especially when we were growing up, it was a little bit more tough. There are still really rough and tough parts in Brooklyn. There's also very soft, tender things. tender, gentle, gentle parts of Brooklyn.ā Rosangel Perez

So who are these people that we keep voting in? Something here smells like much tremendo bullship!
There are bookstores in the vicinity in NYC that are still advocating that you enter, but you have to wear pampers on your face in order to even have an access point to entering their community bookstore.
They support everything but Pro America view points.
Pero, we seem to be on the Progressive / Socialist train in NYC. And people here are loving their rhetoricā¦. but is it leading to outcomes that are benefiting New Yorkers?
One thing that is clear from the vibe in the streets is that New Yorkers are fed up with Mayor Eric Adams. And Zohran Mamdani, a Democratic Socialist with a well funded and well marketed campaign is surging up in the polls.
š£ Is he too good to be true?
We do not trust him.If another pandemic hits, he will forgo your civil rights for public health mandates.Remember nada is for FREE and some insiders fear Zohran is the scariest candidate running for Mayor of NYC right now.
Some things make no sense to me!
For example: People come to the USA to live freer lives and make their way, but many Democrats in Blue Cities support policies that lead or are reminiscent to Tyrannical Oppressive Governments they fled from. š¹š
Porque?
What is the solution? I / we donāt have the answers, but we know one thingā¦. Get involved in local!
We are all creating and co-creating this world by our action or non-action by what we say or don't say by what we do or don't do and our silence is helping to create this distance that's happening between human beings and I don't like it do you?

Bendiciones fam,
We are seeing a world where ideas are separating many in ways that are making it difficult for human beings to co-exist, to communicate, even if cordially.
This honestly keeps me up at night.
My sister and I grew up in a politically incorrect family with politically incorrect friends, and in the politically incorrect land of Brooklyn with NYC asshole energy. We grew tough skins, we minded our business, we also protected our own and we protected our hoods. Life was far from perfect, but you werenāt going to get canceled for liking a different team or for your political affiliation.
Now we live in WOKEYPOKEYLAND where we are expected to bend and twist and pretend it is for the greater good, but it is not really working. Folks are exhausted, are lashing out, and many have started to ignore one another. Of course there are other factors at play, pero this is one of them.
We see this phenomenon in the streets of NYC when we try to engage with New Yorkersā¦. some folks pass by and close their eyes like they are magically trying to erase your existence. Others lash out, scream, or try to lecture you for even having a different opinion. Very few respond with kindness.
We do not condone this chaotic screaming violent culture of influencers, politicians, and media personalities that are adding to the noise, but not adding to solutions.
People are not communicating like they used to. Some are dictating ideas and they want all to acquiesceā¦. such as some tyrannical elected officials that are currently in power.
We have tried to visit and communicate with certain elected officials in our area. We have called, emailed, booked appts, tried to meet them in Albany or even surprise visit at their office and itās so interesting how UNAVAILABLE THEY ARE! This phenomenon of being unavailable increased during COVID and it has not stopped.
The Brooklyn Borough President, Antonio Reynoso is an exception. He does not shy away from conversation and tough questions. He has never denied Cafecito Break an interview or an opportunity to share a quick update.
He is a Democrat and we are Republican. And while that shouldnāt even matter, it does today because that simple distinction automatically creates a separation in some folks mind.
Some people do not even view a Republican like a HUMAN BEING.
This is demonstrated by their actions and elitist behaviors. We have stories and testimonials we can share.
Politicians in leadership are feeding this divide. Some are screaming for violence and revolution-like tactics⦠but there is nothing to worry about right, because itās all for the greater good and it is just peaceful protestingā¦. Hmmm.
They donāt care to listen to opposing ideas and they donāt try to build with others. They help feed the separation by blaming, shaming, screaming, poking fun of and ignoring other perspectives. Some keep asking Americans to focus on everything but what is happening in America and how itās affecting Americans, our pockets, our neighborhoods and day to day life. We often find ourselves telling peopleā¦. āLetās focus on our home.ā
What is happening is SCARY! We are losing the art of conversation / communication FAST!
We are disregarding precious human relationships!
Healthy relationships do not work this way. One way or the highway thinking / dictating does not work. This does not build trust. This is destroying lives at all levels⦠WHY ARE WE ALLOWING THIS?
This is unacceptable to me, to the Perez Sisters.
We do not have to agree. But we need to practice listening and actively building with other folks who have other ideas, with respect, with kindness, with civility.
We owe it to our children and the future generations to strive to be better communicators.
What is our stake in this? We love NY. We love Brooklyn. We love the people.
Take a listen to a clip of a recent interview I shared with Brooklyn Borough President, Antonio Reynoso.
We agree with the Brooklyn Borough President when he says we shouldnāt let different ideas separate us and stop us from working together for the people and the communities we love.
We keep ushering in a lonely world.

Happy Earth Day siblings!
Take a moment to appreciate yourself today, the ground you walk on, and the folks around you.
Taking a moment to say, THANK YOU for being a part of our world. We appreciate you.
May peace prevail on Earth and good will to all, as our Soul hermano, Andrew Kaen says in the closing of this video.
Can you feel the love? Sending some your way, to remind you that you matter, that you are needed, that you are one of a kind and that you are not alone.

Love, peace, kindness, and compassion are urgently needed because they counter division, fear, and suffering in a world facing conflict, polarization, and uncertainty. These qualities foster unity, heal wounds, and inspire hope, creating a ripple effect of positive change.
Why Now?
* Global Tensions: Ongoing conflicts and social unrest amplify fear and distrust. Compassion bridges divides, humanizing "the other."
* Mental Health Crisis: Rising anxiety and isolation call for kindness to uplift and connect people.
* Environmental Strain: Collective care for the planet stems from love and peace, driving sustainable action.
* Cultural Shifts: Polarization highlights the need for empathy to restore constructive dialogue.
Way Showers Needed Now:
* Embody the Values: Live love and compassion authenticallyāsmall acts like listening or helping a stranger model the way.
* Amplify Positivity: Share stories of kindness, engage in local communities to inspire others. Smile, Say Good Morning. Engage in Simple Acts of Service.
* Lead with Courage: Stand for peace in tough conversations, defusing hostility with understanding.
* Inner Work: Cultivate mindfulness to stay grounded, ensuring actions align with these values.
The world craves these qualities. Way showersāthose who lead by exampleāmust step up, radiating love and compassion to spark transformation. Start where you stand.
Tune in for a soulful conversation about love, peace, kindness, compassion, our interconnectedness and Mama Earth.

Take a listen to a conversation with Brooklyn Borough President, Antonio Reynoso about Political Division, Congestion Pricing, Mayor Adams, Nuestros NiƱos, The MTA, and the NYC madness we are experiencing.
š¹ The Brooklyn Borough President has been a long time friend of Cafecito Break. He is not afraid of questions and unlike many other politicians we have tried to engage in NYC, he is approachable and reachable.
š¹ We may be on different sides of the political aisle but we have common values and goals. We love Brooklyn and want a thriving community for small businesses and families.
š¹ This is step towards rebuilding bridges and closer communications with community leaders and elected officials. Many of these relations have suffered since the days of COVID.
In this conversation, we tried to convey that:
Being a Trump Supporter is still a dirty word in NYC.
Being a Republican is also dirty word in NYC. It spirals some folks into unhinged venom filled tantrums and actions that are illogical and harmful to others.
It has affected peoples reputations tambien.
The cancel culture has harmed folks abilities to earn a livelihood in some cases.
But there is much moreā¦.
Some of our friends have experienced violence, threats, and erratic behaviors for being Republican that would make anyone feel unsafe.
Our friend, Christian Artist DVS 7.0, has a van with obvious signage of his support for Trump.
His van has gotten messed with several times, such as a Biden Harris supporter leaving poop in a bag on his van, putting a Biden Harris sticker on his van, another time he received an unhinged love note and most recently he discovered firecrackers that were going off under his van near the gas tank.
At what point do we say this is political violence? What if the van would have caught fire?
How can we have effective leadership in NYC if we are fighting, finger pointing and not listening to each other?
š¹There is an unacceptable Political divide in NYC. There is an unacceptable communication gap.
As you can imagine, we donāt agree on several issues, there are many topics to still discuss, but we are friends and those differences will not stop us from looking for ways to work together for the greater good of our communities and this place called Brooklyn we love so much.
š¹ Stay tuned for updates. This conversation went so well, we are in talks of scheduling another one.
š¹ Thank you Isabel for helping to make this conversation possible.
Looking forward to the next chat Antonio.
Gracias y muchas bendiciones.

Guess what? Itās our 13th birthday!
Our podcast first hit the airwaves on International Womenās Day March 8th, 2012
on WBAI in NYC.
Our first topic was about Women and Intuition. Our production from Engineer, to Producers, to Hosts and Guests ALL WOMENā¦
While our intention was to direct our messages to the ladies, our main audience from Day 1 and 13 years laters has been mostly men.
Wild right?
Nevertheless, we want to say THANK YOU! to each and everyone of you who have been in our lives, who have supported our dreams, visions, and messages and a SPECIAL thank you for those who you who stood by us during that DARK time when many folks PEACED out of our lives.
In this video Alex and I talk about lessons we have learned along the way from dreaming up Cafecito Break, defending her takedowns, defending her from the debbie downers and defending her from Imposter Syndrome.
Cafecito Break represents la gente, community. Within her there are moments in which each and everyone of you have been a part of!
You donāt know how much your presence in our lives has meant to us.
During moments when perhaps we thought about giving up, God would send an angel disguised as one of you to encourage us to go forward.
WE WOULD NOT BE HERE if it wasnāt for you⦠for your prayers, your love, your comments, your donations, your support.
We love you!
