  • An Artist Speaks Season 3 Episode 6 Linda Mitchell
Listen in as host Mike Harris interviews Linda Mitchell, one of Contemporary Art Gallery Online' newest Artist Member.   After studying at Georgia State University and Berry College, Mitchell attended the University of Georgia, receiving a BFA in 1982. While there she developed a special interest in lithography, and she credits printmaking for spurring her feeling for layering images and textures. Mitchell went on to receive an MFA in painting from the University of Georgia in 1990, and an MFA in sculpture from Georgia State University in 1994. Mitchell’s early work focused on animals in multi-panel paintings, featuring cut-out figures, and other dimensional elements. The paintings focused on fluidly painted four-legged creatures in dramatic situations, emphasizing their human qualities. Mitchell turned to sculptural work using exposed wire armatures to create animals forms. She created disturbing scenarios of stalking and predation with multiple figures, some of which were fleshed out with fabric and black sand.

About CAGOMedia

From the publisher's feed

Contemporary Art Gallery Online is your number 1 source for all original contemporary art. CAGOnline is proud to showcase Tomorrow's Art Giants, Today. To further expose these talented artists, CAGOnline has created CAGO Media. CAGO Media has two purposes. First is to share art business ideas, and secondly to introduce artists to the buying public. CAGO Media accomplishes both of these initiatives, by programming Radio and TV shows. The Business of Art Show airs bi-monthly, 15 to 20 minute episodes. Hosted by Sharon Belle Hawkshawe, each episode discusses everything pertaining to the Business of Art. The What is Art Show is a monthly 30 minute episode with hosts Michael Harris (art collector) and Sharon Hawkshawe (acclaimed artist), who discuss current art movements and art shows. Our hosts are occasionally joined by museum curators, gallery owners, art critics and art insiders. The third show is An Artist Speaks. These lively 30 minute episodes are in depth interviews with Artists; discussing their art process, philosophy and a candid look at their work. Finally; every month, a video is produced showcasing the monthly art participants. Other videos highlight gallery artist and art styles.
