It became a symbol of the unconquerable spirit of man and the 4 adventurers who set out on this expedition with no large train of porters and sherpas and limited technology in 1981 etched their mark in the Indian History!!!

The army which intended to perform a peacekeeping role got deployed without proper briefing, proper preparations and was virtually blindfolded into the island territory. Despite the shortcomings the Indian Army performed its role with guts, determination and glory!

We dedicate this  episode to our valiant comrades whose acts of bravery went unnoticed and unspoken about.

Our twelfth episode features Lieutenant Commander Bidisha Pandey. 

In an illustrious career of ten years she walked the Rajpath twice leading the Naval Marching Contingent as part of the Republic Day Parade celebrations. She also represented the Indian Navy as part of the Cape to Rio Trans-Atlantic Ocean Sailing Expedition, and sailed 5,000 Nautical Miles on-board INSV Mhadei! 

She was Awarded, “Celebrating Women in Maritime Award” by the International Maritime Organisation.

Presently pursuing Masters in Prosperity, Innovation and Entrepreneurship at London, on a Commonwealth Scholarship.

An officer who adapted himself in all situations, took strong decisions in the face of adversity, and walked out free with 233 soldiers surviving 75 days of being taken hostages in a  foreign land.
