  • God wants you in business.
“So he called ten of his servants, delivered to them ten minas, and said to them, “Do business till I come.” (Luke 19:13)
“Do business til I come”? Some say God is not interested in business. His Word seems to disagree.
God is intimately interested in your work life. It is not an add-on or just a way to provide. He has asked you to work and will show you how to work in ways you will not expect.
Your ministry and calling is in the marketplace. Expect him to guide and lead you just as a minister in a church will be guided and led. There is no difference in the calling.
He wants you in business, where you are most effective.
Oh, and it is okay to relax and enjoy the journey.
Quick Prayer. “Thank you that you want me in business.” Amen

  • Listen !
“Today you must listen to His voice. Don’t harden your hearts against Him.” (Hebrews 3:7-8)

God can talk to us in many ways, but it is up to us to choose to listen. First we must shift our hearts and open our minds and spirits to expect to hear from Him.
If you want insight in business, if you want to know what to expect in the future, and if you want to know how to adjust your life to align with the will of God, spend some time with Him. But be willing to change. He will surprise you and soften your heart.
Come to Him in expectation. He is vitally interested in you and your work life. If you haven’t experienced this truth, go to Him and ask Him to reveal it to you. You may well get a life- changing revelation.

Quick Prayer. “Soften my heart and help me to hear you Jesus.” Amen

  • Rejoice in your blessing.
“Because the Lord your God will bless you in all your produce and in all the work of your hands, so that you surely rejoice.” (Deuteronomy 16:15)
Enjoy what God has given you. He has blessed you so that you may bless others but also so you will rejoice. Relax and enjoy the blessing of God.
He has said He will bless our produce and the work of our hands. Expect to see His hand at work at your work. Note, however, that we need to work to receive. There is a practical application that is not circumvented by blessing. However, all we have ultimately comes from Him. We are truly co-labourers with Him.
If you are not seeing this truth in your life, go to Him and ask why. He will show you the time and season and what you need to do, because this is His will, and He is true to His Word.
Quick Prayer. “Thank you for all you have done for me.” Amen

  • Acceptable and Approved.
“For he who serves God in these things is acceptable to men and approved by God.” (Romans 14:18)

Doing things God’s way doesn’t necessarily put us at odds with those around us. Sometimes we assume that we will be less successful if we act in obedience to Scripture. True sometimes but certainly not always.
I would take having favour with God over favour with man, but God says you can achieve both. Just make sure you get your priorities right. One is the cause; the other the effect. When we get our priorities right and allow God to take care of the consequences, He will work out all things for our good.
His Scripture tells us that we can be acceptable to men and approved by God. What a powerful way to be effective in the marketplace!

Quick Prayer. “Help me to be approved by you.” Amen

  • Faith based on Power.
“And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.” (1 Corinthians 2:4-5)

Have you seen the power of God? Have you seen Him move in a miraculous way? In our modern world, He is no less willing to move on our behalf and to demonstrate His power in support of His gospel. Will we dare to believe?
He can demonstrate this in your business, or in your workplace. When we invite Him into our organisation and ask big, we have the opportunity to see Him move in mighty ways. When we ask and see Him answer, our faith grows, and we will ask more and for more. He is not reluctant to answer our prayers at work. Why are we so reticent in asking?
When we operate in faith and have an expectant heart we will see Him move in extraordinary ways.

Quick Prayer. “I need to see your power Lord.” Amen

  • Free Ride.
“If anyone will not work, neither shall he eat.” (2 Thessalonians 3:10)
This is an interesting scriptural standpoint on voluntary abdication from responsibility. It also shows us the regard with which God holds occupations and work in general. It talks to the rightful reward of work and the need to apply ourselves to the task at hand.
Our provision, while it comes from God, requires our alignment, surrender, and application to fully manifest. We also need to make sure our attitude is aligned to the principle that work is good.
When we recognize the value of something, it becomes more important to us. God places a high value on our employment and our attitude toward working. It is His mechanism for provision and much more besides.
Quick Prayer. “Sorry for taking your provision for granted.” Amen
