Opposition Leader Sussan Ley has written to the Republican members of the United States Congress, denouncing the Albanese government's decision to recognise a Palestinian state and pledging to reverse the recognition should the Liberal Party return to power.

Earlier this week, more than 20 Republican politicians wrote an open letter threatening Australia with punitive actions if it did not reverse its decision to recognise a Palestinian sovereignty.
