In this episode of In Her Honor, Lynn shares the profound journey of loving our mother not only as a daughter, but also as a caregiver and a friend. What unfolds is an honest conversation about grief, sacrifice, resilience, and the quiet strength it takes to care for someone through illness while trying to hold yourself together.
Lynn reflects on her mother’s long battle with breast cancer, the deep bond they shared, and the way caregiving changed her life. She speaks openly about the emotional, physical, and mental cost of showing up for someone you love, and the ways grief can begin long before a final goodbye. She also shares how that season affected her family, including her son, who was grieving too.
In this conversation, we talk about:
the shifting roles between daughter, caregiver, and friend
the hidden cost of caregiving
anticipatory grief and the grief that follows loss
how generational pain can shape the way we love and respond
the strength and resilience a mother can pour into her children
signs, memory, and the ways loved ones remain present after loss
This episode is for anyone who has cared for a parent, grieved a mother, or tried to keep going while carrying the weight of loss. It is a reminder that caregiving changes you, grief changes you, and healing often begins in the quiet truth of naming what it cost.
Lynn’s story is tender, honest, and deeply human. If you have ever wondered whether your sacrifices mattered, whether your grief makes sense, or how to carry someone’s legacy forward, this conversation will stay with you.

Today’s episode of In Her Honor is a tender and powerful conversation with Doreen as she honors the life and legacy of her mother. After living with Alzheimer’s for 20 years, Doreen’s mother passed during COVID, just two days after her husband. And even in the midst of so much loss, Doreen remembers her mother with such warmth, grace, and love.
In this episode, Doreen shares memories of a woman who was positive, loving, and the very definition of what a lady is and should be. This conversation is about mother loss, Alzheimer’s, grief, remembrance, legacy, and the lasting impact of a mother’s presence. It is also a beautiful reminder that even after illness, hardship, and heartbreak, love is what remains.
If you have ever loved someone with Alzheimer’s, grieved the loss of a mother, or reflected on the quiet strength and elegance of the women who shaped your life, I hope this episode speaks to you.
Watch today’s episode of In Her Honor and join us as we honor a woman whose love, grace, and legacy still live on.

In this first episode of In Her Honor, I’m sharing my own story. My relationship with my mother was difficult, and I wanted to be honest about that while still honoring the woman who shaped me. My mother raised me to be strong, and I am. But if I’m telling the truth, there were also times I needed softness, affirmation, and a hug.
This episode is my reflection on grief, strength, hindsight, and the complicated love that can exist between a mother and daughter. It’s about telling the truth with respect. It’s about recognizing how much of her I carry. And it’s about making peace with the fact that love does not always come in the form we needed, even when it was real.
If you’ve ever grieved a mother you loved but also struggled with, this conversation is for you.

I am so excited to welcome my personal trainer, Brittany Moore, for a beautiful and deeply meaningful conversation on healing through movement, sustainable fitness, self-care, consistency, and women’s wellness.
This episode is personal for me because Brittany is not just a trainer I admire, she is MY trainer. I have experienced firsthand the safe, encouraging, and healing space she creates for women. Her approach to fitness is not rooted in shame, pressure, or punishment. It is rooted in grace, strength, consistency, and learning how to reconnect with your body one step at a time.
In this conversation, Brittany reminds us that wellness is not just about reaching an end goal. It is about learning to enjoy the journey, honoring the little things, and finding what works for you in real life. We talk about why so many women struggle with consistency, how movement can become part of the healing process, and why self-care does not always have to be big or dramatic to be powerful.
Brittany shares so much wisdom about sustainable fitness, mindset, emotional wellness, and creating a healthier relationship with movement. I have such deep respect for who she is, the work she does, and the way she shows up for women with both compassion and accountability.
And as a special gift to the Collective, Brittany has created a link for two weeks of free access to her fitness app so you can experience her approach for yourself:

I’m sitting down with Fliria for a conversation that is especially close to my heart: code switching, corporate culture, authenticity at work, and what it really costs Black women to survive and succeed in professional spaces.
This one is for my corporate girlies. The women who know what it feels like to measure your tone, rethink your words, adjust your appearance, and carry the unspoken pressure of being “professional” in ways that often feel anything but natural. We talk openly about the difference between bringing your authentic self to work and being told, directly or indirectly, that only certain parts of you are welcome there.
Fliria shares her experiences navigating corporate leadership, workplace politics, isolation, and the emotional weight of trying to advance in environments where you do not always feel seen, safe, or heard. This conversation is honest, layered, and deeply real. And for so many of us, it will feel familiar.
Whether you are climbing the corporate ladder, leading teams, trying to protect your peace at work, or simply tired of shrinking yourself to make other people comfortable, this episode is for you.
If you’ve ever felt like you had to choose between authenticity and advancement, between belonging and self-protection, or between being respected and being fully yourself, I hope this conversation reminds you that you are not alone.

In this episode I’m joined by sleep physician and author Funke Afolabi-Brown, MD, for a powerful conversation about why sleep is one of the most overlooked pillars of health—especially for women.
Dr. Brown explains how sleep deprivation impacts memory, focus, productivity, and emotional well-being. We also explore how cultural expectations, productivity pressure, and the constant need to perform can lead many women to sacrifice rest in ways that ultimately harm their health.
In this conversation, we discuss:
• Why sleep deprivation affects cognitive performance and executive function
• The connection between burnout, productivity culture, and exhaustion
• Why women—especially women of color—often feel pressure to overperform
• How menopause can increase the risk of sleep apnea
• Practical steps to improve sleep and reclaim rest as a form of self-care
If you’ve ever felt like you’re working harder simply because you’re tired, this episode offers powerful insight into why prioritizing sleep is essential for your health, clarity, and long-term well-being.
Sleep isn’t a luxury—it’s a necessity.

In this episode Johanne Osias M.A., Clinical Psychology ,joins the conversation to challenge one of the biggest misconceptions many women carry: the belief that self-care is selfish.
Together, we explore why so many people are taught to sacrifice themselves for everyone else—and how that pattern can lead to burnout, resentment, and emotional depletion. Johanne shares powerful insights on why you cannot continue pouring from an empty cup and why learning to love and understand yourself is the foundation for healthy relationships.
In this conversation, we discuss:
• Why self-sacrifice is often mistaken for love
• The emotional cost of constantly giving without replenishing
• How resentment and burnout develop when boundaries are ignored
• Why loving yourself first is necessary to truly love others
• Practical ways to begin practicing intentional self-care
If you’ve ever felt exhausted from giving too much of yourself to others, this episode offers a powerful reminder that caring for yourself is not selfish—it’s essential.
