Today, I have a very special guest, Dr. Redus who has made it through adversities, death, and traumatic events. She is the author of her newly released book, “No Longer Broken”, and recently received her Doctorates degree in Organizational Leadership with an emphasis in Behavioral Health. Dr. Redus will share tips,  resources, and encourage you to tap into your "Power Source" whenever you are going through. Kenya is the wife of Keith Wilbert, the mother of 5 children and grandmother of 5 grandchildren whom she loves dearly. April 19 marked my 22nd anniversary as a proud employee with the state government! 21 1/2 years were devoted to public health. In February 2022, I took the leap of faith and moved when I received a promotion within another state agency. 

As a leader, it was always my aim to build upon the foundation laid by my career leaders and role models. That foundation included always going over and beyond for the people served; remembering ethical standards and principles, staying loyal to good leadership, and not taking things personally when it came to our service, but finding creative ways to fulfill our mission - especially when it came to funding. 

Not only was it important to build upon these principles but to also develop leaders by sharing those principles and genuinely striving to make (in the words of one of the best former directors) Arkansas the healthiest state in the country. True Leaders build leaders and encourage each one to reach their fullest potential.  I am delighted to have a former colleague and lifelong friend LaTonya Bynum to kick off my new series, "Shattering Glass Ceilings". She has a wealth of knowledge, experience and is an entrepreneur with over 40 programs under her business! During this episode, we had fun while reflecting on our experiences, and Latonya shared how she shattered glass ceilings and reached back to help others. This is an episode you don't want to miss! 

As we conclude Women's History Month today, I want to encourage all women to keep PRESSING FORWARD! We have endured many struggles over the years and have CRUSHED glass ceilings! I hope this short yet powerful episode encourages you to never give up; always remember to spread your wings and never stop soaring! Be Inspired!  

The number Seven often symbolizes completion or wholeness. It also symbolizes being free, forgiven, and HEALED.  I felt the need to remind you of the importance of this one thing. Love YOU. You cannot love anyone else until you love yourself first. We walk around all made up, smiling as if we have it all together, but if God was to turn you inside out, how are you FOR REAL? Take a good look at yourself and understand that there is nothing wrong with you loving yourself. This is not selfish. You can start loving yourself more by taking the necessary steps to be whole and healthy- mentally, physically, and emotionally! Start by saying something positive about yourself every day and stay right there- focusing on the good! Bring out the BEST in You and Speak life. Your words are powerful. Speak positive things in your atmosphere, and positive things will be- because you have the power to shift things! 

Welcome to CALM Redefined Episode 6! Happy 2021! This year, I want to encourage you to Spread Your Wings and SOAR! Fly High and rise swiftly! During this episode, I shared my terrifying experience flying on an airplane for the first time many, many years ago and compared it to the beauty of soaring in and throughout life now- even when the initial takeoff is quite terrifying at first. When you have the courage to spread your wings and SOAR, you can do ANYTHING, if you believe and work hard! Trust your "Pilot". And when you make it to the top, never forget about those who rooted for you! When you SOAR it is not only about you, but about others, so remember to  Sow Opportunities And Reap! Imagine how much greater the world will be when you sow opportunities into others! In other words, when you SOAR or advance, remember to sow into others- especially the people who were loyal and helped you! EVERYONE reaps the benefits. Everyone SOARS! 

There were many times in my life when I heard the word NO. As a child, I remember my mom and dad telling us NO when we wanted to go outside and play or when we wanted to go and hang out with our friends. As an adult, I also received SEVERAL NOs- especially towards some of the things I wanted. But, I found out that there were greater things beyond "Man's NO". When was the last time you received NO for an answer? Most of us do not like hearing this word, but during this episode, I am going to give you some nuggets regarding the POWER in the NO. Yes, there is power in the NO! I hope this episode inspires you to never look at the word NO in a negative way again, but in a way-  greater than you could ever imagine!   

With the latest happenings that have occurred in our communities, state and country, and with many who managed to get through the holidays while trying to stay safe, many people are simply just mentally drained. Many people are tired of not having the ability to “move” in life as we once moved without fear, which causes us to let our guards down. We have experienced mental fatigue and are exhausted with life in general. Every now and then, we need to know where to go to receive support. During this episode, I want you to know that you can “overcome challenges to increase your ability to THRIVE.”  To THRIVE means to flourish, prosper, succeed, blossom, or to be healthy. By the end of this episode, I hope that you are renewed and receive the tools you need to Just THRIVE.
