Jesus is the servant-king who liberates those enslaved to a fallen world by wielding absolute authority, even over demons. We must recognize our own helplessness to set ourselves free from whatever possesses us. Jesus promised to deliver you. (Mark 5:1-20)

Jesus has power over the storms of life, experiences them alongside us, loves us, saves us from them and wants us to trust him more than we do. When you follow Jesus, there will be all types of storms. Stay in the boat and trust Him. (Mark 4:35-41)

There is no problem with the seed. The seed is powerful. The problem is with the soil. Listen to God, trust His grace and soften your heart to learn to hear his voice. (Mark 4:1-9)

The kingdom of God prioritizes the flourishing of humanity and of all creation. The first step toward working for human flourishing is recognizing the humanity in others, even those we disagree with, dislike, or disregard.

Jesus confronted the complex. His message was and is simple. Let’s get back to the basics He taught us! Why make it difficult Our level of discipleship will be determined by the depth of our obedience.

This series explores key themes in the Gospel of Mark, especially the concept of the kingdom of God and its upside-down values. Over and over again, we learn how this coming kingdom elevates the marginalized, protects the vulnerable, and finds its strength in weakness. Through following our new ruler, we learn to receive the kingdom and live as previews to its coming glory.

We first learn about the kingdom of God and its paradoxical values by learning about its ruler, Jesus. Our values and how we live should look like they come from another kingdom.

Andrew joined HOPE in 2015 seeking to impact this city, state, and country for the cause of life. In this role, he leads an impressive team of professionals who graciously serve the men and women that walk through the doors of HOPE.
