Living As A Biblical Believer in 2020
Colossians 2:6-7
7 gospel principles for living, growing and being anchored in Christ…
1. I am not my own. My life belongs to Christ.
“I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” (Gal. 2:20)
2. My old nature must be transformed by knowing and obeying God’s word.
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” (Rom. 12:2)
3. I must be comfortable living as a minority realizing the world’s majority opposes Christ.
“Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. 14 For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.” (Mt. 7:13-14)
4. I must protect my witness by avoiding the appearance of evil.
“Abstain from every form of evil.” (1 Thes. 5:22)
5. I will make worship a daily and weekly essential in my schedule.
“ And since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.”
(Heb. 10: 21-25)
6. I will love my neighbor by preferring them and not causing them to stumble.
“You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” (Mt. 22:39)
7. God has given me a gospel mission to make Him known everywhere.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
(Mt. 28: 19-20)
