Join Pastor Phil Ballmaier of Calvary Chapel Elk Grove as he works his way through the Gospel of John on Sunday Mornings.

Today we continue in John, Chapter 18 and the final hours of Jesus' life before the Cross. He knew what lie ahead, and the cup of sorrows to come—and He did it all for us... Let's join Pastor Phil now for Part 2 of his message, Jesus' Betrayal and Arrest. We're reminded, as we look at Jesus' final hours that we are to be watchful, waiting, working and surrendering. That His sacrifice on The Cross would cause us, out of love to follow hard after Him!!

In Jesus' final hours He prayed to the Father for Himself, His Disciples, and all believers yet to come. These were the most important things on His heart and mind.

As we wrap up Chapter 17 we see Jesus praying for all believers to come. He prayed as He desired we'd love Him above all else, walk in The Spirit, and seek out those who are lost—all for the glory to The Father. As Pastor Phil sums up His prayer for us he brings out three points of most importance to Jesus. 1. Unity 2. God's Glory and 3. Agape' Love May every day of our walk with Him be focused on Jesus' desire for us.

Have you opened your heart to Him? Has He become your Lord and Savior?

In Jesus' final hours He prayed to the Father for Himself, His Disciples, and all believers yet to come. These were the most important things on His heart and mind. What should be predominant in a believers mind? To love The Lord our God with our heart, soul and mind. A divine, dedicated love.

Jesus, in His final hours prayed for all believers to come. He wanted us to walk in The Spirit, love Him above all else and seek out those who are lost. It is His desire that we walk in unity, as believers and as a Church. We become one with Him and one another when we are born again. Made brand new.

Jesus commanded that we love one another and demands unity in the lives of believers. This was on Jesus’ heart in the last few hours of His ministry. We should listen. Simply~love.

Love Him as He loved us. Love others as He loves others. Be one with others as we are one with Him.

Have you opened your heart to Him? Has He become your Lord and Savior?

What should be predominant in a believers mind? To love The Lord our God with our heart, soul and mind. A divine, dedicated love. We are to love a Supreme God, supremely. Jesus reminded us in His last hours how much He loved us. Will we show our love for Him? He loved us enough to lay down His life for us. He demonstrated it purely.

His Word promises, "draw near to God and He will draw near to you." But also we must examine our hearts continually to walk obediently. The Spirit transforms us to live out righteous lives. "Lord we desire that you are our First Love. Enable us Lord to love You supremely, walk obediently and bring You glory through our life for You. Pour out Your Spirit to enable us to walk holy lives."

Last week Pastor Phil reminded us of how Jesus wanted to prepare us for the spiritual battle we face as believers. The enemy has one goal. To steal, rob and destroy. For a grounded Christian, we must use the tools that God has given us. His Word, prayer and being anchored in our faith to withstand the wiles of the devil...

In Jesus' final hours He prayed to the Father for Himself, His Disciples, and all believers yet to come. These were the most important things on His heart and mind.

May we abide in Him, purpose in our hearts, and seek Him out completely, being washed by the power of His Word, and walking in the power of His Spirit. Fully equipped for every good work!

Today Pastor Phil reminds us that we are in a spiritual battle. The enemy has one goal. To steal, rob and destroy. For a grounded Christian, we must use the tools that God has given us. The Apostle Paul spells it out clearly in the Book of Ephesians. Put on the Whole Armor of God. Be sure to check that out. But our greatest tool is being fully equipped, and that can only come by being in the Word of God—our greatest weapon against the enemy.

May we abide in Him, purpose in our hearts, and seek Him out completely, being washed by the power of His Word, and walking in the power of His Spirit. Fully equipped for every good work!

Today we continue in Chapter 17 in Part 16 of, "With Jesus Behind The Veil". John 17 is known as ‘the High Priestly prayer of Jesus.’ Jesus knew He was just a few hours from the Cross and set this time aside to go before His Father with the most important burdens on His heart. He prayed for Himself (verses 1-5), for His Disciples (verses 6-19), and He prayed for us | all future believers to come. (verses 20-26).

Today Pastor Phil shares how Jesus prayed that we, His disciples would be set apart, sanctified and holy as The Father is holy... How? Jesus says that we are sanctified by His truth—the word of God...

May we abide in Him, purpose in our hearts, and seek Him out completely, being washed by the power of His Word, and walking in the power of His Spirit. May we cling to His promises!
