In this study, we pick up with the same words of judgment toward Moab, another nation that did not obey the word of the Lord, but then we see

Amos shift gears and now brings these words of judgment home to Judah and then to Israel.

In this study Paul continues this theme of church discipline and our responsibility to judge ourselves. In the previous study we focused primarily on sexual sin and we will still see that in this study, but Paul expands the scope to conflicts between one another.

In this study Paul addresses a very specific problem in the church. Sexual sin. We will see how the church should be dealing with this issue.

As we start our study on the book of Amose we will see that Amos prophesied somewhere between 760 B.C. and 750 B.C. during the rule of Uzziah king of Judah, and of Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel. So Israel was already divided at this time. Amos lived in Judah but was called as a prophet to go to the ten tribes of Israel. There was nothing special about this man regarding education or class, he was a country boy that was called to the big city. He was from the city of Tekoa which was about ten miles from Jerusalem. As we know, God always looks at the heart and chooses the ones he chooses according to what He sees and according to His will.

In this study, Paul addresses the pride of the Corinthian church, and as we will see, this is also a problem in the church today.

In this teaching we will see Paul addressing servanthood, and stewardship regarding the gospel, and pride regarding not to think beyond what is written allowing pride to puff you up against one another.

When we come to the end of ourselves, and come to Him with a heart of praise and thanksgiving, His power is released in us to accomplish His plan through us. We are just willing vessels. In this message, Paul addresses the maturity of the church and building on the foundation of the gospel of Jesus Christ. While each of us may have a different role, the focus is not on us, but on Jesus and His gospel.

Worldly things will never be spiritual and spiritual things will never be understood by the world. Paul continues this same theme as we continue our study in 1 Corinthians.

"Spiritual wisdom and understanding can only come from the Spirit of God." This is the theme of the verses we will be reading and studying in this teaching. The wisdom of God vs. the wisdom of the world.
