Every believer will struggle with wanting to do things their way over the Lord's or to just give up trying to do things the Lord's way all together. King David is also struggling with this and thinks he feels good about it at first but it is a false rest. We see thought today's study an advanced class on how to have endurance amidst a trial.

As we pick back up in the life of King Saul we see that the Lord being silent is now a reality of the soul for King Saul. He faces enemies on all sides and the Lord is not with him now; God is turning him over to himself.

We will see through this study that when making a decisions we need to remember these simple truth's:

In today's text we see David learning from his previous experience in chapter 25 and knowing that he needs to let God deal with his enemies. We then see the contrast of this Godly wisdom in King Saul, realizing finally that he has played a fool, and wasted 20 years of his life in the flesh.

It's not always the big giants in your life that can do the most damage, often it is the little foxes that pick away at your life and spoil the fruit the Lord wants to produce in and through your life.

In today's text we see that even when David could have rebelled against God and killed Saul, He cared more about displeasing the Lord than having life be "fair" for him. God calls us to forgive, to show grace and to always seek reconciliation with people who have wronged us...but...the Lord also shows us to have boundaries and that it's ok to have space with people who have wronged us.

We can revert to a mindset of faith plus works very quickly when we get our eyes off the cross and that our salvation has nothing to do with our abilities. We can learn from the thief on the cross in today's text and take assurance that all Jesus wants from you, is you, and to just call Him Lord.

We all need people who are used to counsel us in life but we also needs hearts that can receive the counsel. When someone is in a place of total pride, they won't heed any input or correction and they find themselves in one of the most dangerous places in life.

The Lord is never shocked by your struggles or lack of faith. He knew you completely, and still called you His own despite your failings. The enemy always overestimates your failures but he also underestimates the grace given to you by God!

In today's study we see the importance of allowing God to work and resting in His plan vs. manipulation, lies and trying to make something happen when God says otherwise.
