We are into dramatic entrances... Movies are chalked full of them. We even consider our own entrance when we walk into a room. Jesus had a dramatic entrance when he entered Jerusalem prior to His crucifixion. He also has a dramatic entrance in His second coming.

David has been anointed King of all Israel. David has captured Jerusalem as the city to set up the new capitol. Now we see David winning battles... But it is not David who is winning the battles by his own strength. The Lord is guiding him. How? Twice the text tells us...

David was anointed to be King of all Israel as a young boy. In 2 Samuel 5 he is finally crowned King of all Israel. Its been a long time coming probably close to 15 years. That is a long time to wait on the Lord. But that is what we are called to do, trust Him, wait on Him... If we know how He plans to carry it out and even if we don't know how... trust Him!

In Chapter 3 the sun starts to shine through for David. Abner, the general of the opposing army decides its time to stop fighting Gods plan to make David King. David is cool with this process. Joab, Davids general is not.

In 2 Samuel Chapter 2 the battle for Israel begins. The lines are drawn and the sides are chosen. David is crowned King of Judah. Ish-bosheth is crowned King of Israel. Now civil war is in the future for Gods people. Why? Because some people are rejecting Gods King, Gods will. We suffer the same inner struggle when we rejects Gods leadership!
