Having the truth about how our present realm is going to end is not enough. This information should lead to application. Peter wants us to not only know about the future, but even more importantly how we are to live in the present in light of these truths. Peter writes not simply to feed our curiosity, but to fuel our conduct. It is to our conduct in light of the end that Peter turns to as he brings his letter to a close.
