For false teachers to have success they must have those who follow their teachings. Though this is an obvious statement, it is a very important one. As Peter continues to expose false teachers in the church he also draws our attention to the tendencies in our own hearts that they appeal to and look to prey upon. In this Peter gives us a sober warning concerning what we need to guard in our own lives so that we aren't led away and become followers of that which brings great destruction.
