In the midst of those who were teaching that the Jewish law must be added to faith in Jesus to mature and complete a person, Paul lays out a case for the inadequacy of the law to bring any spiritual growth. Paul shows how the law was never meant to add anything to our salvation and that what God began in the Spirit, He will complete in the same way.

It is interesting in Scripture that we, as believers, are referred to as two different things. The “bride” AND the “body” of Christ. And we will see both today in this passage. As a believer are we taking care to minister to the body of Christ the way Nicodemus and Joseph did?

Even as believers we can get off track spiritually. This was the case for the apostle Peter as it related to his fellowship with Gentile believers. But the apostle Paul was right there to call him back in line and teach us some very valuable lessons as it relates to our relationship with faith and works.
