King David had been incredibly blessed and had a great desire to build a magnificent temple that would reflect the grandeur and majesty of His God. His desire was for God's glory and not his own. Yet God was not through pouring out blessings on His chosen king. David's legacy would include more than buildings and battles. As Pastor Mark points out in today's study, God is not done blessing us either. Even though we face many struggles in life, both small and great, if we'll stop and recall His blessings to us, and consider what He's preparing for our future with Him, we too will no doubt ask “Who am I, that You should bless me so?”

However Joab, who would soon become King David's general, wanted revenge on Abner for the death of his brother Asahel, and ignored the treaty. He conspired against Abner and murdered him in cold blood.
