When David was approached by a man he thought he could trust, and was told that another friend had betrayed him, David believed the worst. But rather than trying to find out if the accusations were true, he took them at face value, and a bond that had been based on mutual respect and love was now destroyed. Had David looked into it, he would have discovered that he'd been lied to. His friend had not betrayed him at all, but was being accused by a man who was hoping to enrich himself by lying. In today's study, Pastor Mark uses this incident to emphasize the importance of finding out the whole story and not just one side.

But there were internal changes too. He no longer seemed able to confront sin as boldly as before. When his son Amnon raped Tamar, David did nothing about it. King David had been incredibly blessed and had a great desire to build a magnificent temple that would reflect the grandeur and majesty of His God. His desire was for God's glory and not his own. Yet God was not through pouring out blessings on His chosen king. David's legacy would include more than buildings and battles. As Pastor Mark points out in today's study, God is not done blessing us either. Even though we face many struggles in life, both small and great, if we'll stop and recall His blessings to us, and consider what He's preparing for our future with Him, we too will no doubt ask “Who am I, that You should bless me so?”
