Just as the Lord wanted to take Israel into the fullness of His promise of the land so the Lord wants to do more than we can ever think or imagine in our lives. As we see God's interaction with the nation as they make their way into the Promised land we find important truths for how we can enter the fullness of our salvation and advance deeper in the abundant, Spirit-filled life God has for us.

When David took a census of the people, it was done out of pride. He wanted to see just how strong he was militarily. He forgot that it was really God that had won his battles, not David's armies. Eventually he had to offer a sacrifice to stop the punishment God had sent for his sin. He refused to let anyone else provide the offering, because his integrity dictated that this sacrifice had to cost him something. In today's study, Pastor Mark exhorts us that like David, we too need to make sacrifices if we want to please God and bear fruit in our lives. There are many opportunities for us to lay aside our own desires and give of ourselves to the Master.
