Chapter 16 of John continues Jesus' words in the Upper Room to his closest disciples. He talks more about the Holy Spirit and the advantage it is that He comes after Jesus' departure. He also encourages them that all he has said will ultimately bring peace.

"I am the vine and you are the branches." -Jesus. These words from the Savior come from John 15. Among the other critical revelations out of this part of the Upper Room Discourse, Jesus also reveals to his disciples the importance of joy.

In this study, chapter 13 begins with the disciples gathered around the Passover table for what will be their final meal with Jesus before his crucifixion.
