As we think about modern issues, we must talk about the issue of abortion. This topic is all around us. So, what does the Bible say about abortion? In this week's message, our guest speaker, Bryce Asberg, gives us a biblical perspective on this modern issue. Listen here:

The LGBTQ+ movement is one of the most controversial issues of our day. This ideology has taken over in our culture. As Christians, we need to answer the question: "What does the Bible say about LGBTQ?" This week's message seeks to answer this crucial question. 

It seems as though society has reached a tipping point into evil. Any thought to argue against the LGBTQ agenda cannot be tolerated. Cultural leaders cannot believe people are still arguing about it because that ship has sailed. The political sphere is as divisive as it has ever been. Young people are seen as completely out of place if they maintain their purity. The drug problem continues like a flash flood across our county. Violence, deceit, immorality, death, destruction, and hardship are all around us. The cultural and political leadership continues to drive the culture further away from God. Churches across the country echo Oprah more than God. 

In the middle of this onslaught, we often feel like Habakkuk. Habakkuk 1:13 – O Lord, how long shall I cry for help, and you will not hear? Or cry to you “Violence!” and you will not save? 3 Why do you make me see iniquity, and why do you idly look at wrong? Destruction and violence are before me; strife and contention arise. 4 So the law is paralyzed, and justice never goes forth. For the wicked surround the righteous; so justice goes forth perverted.

We might ask how we arrived here and how people can think this way. To those of us raised with a Biblical worldview, the thinking that leads to this place in our society is completely foreign. We cannot comprehend how someone would think that they had been born into the wrong body. We cannot fathom how someone would think that killing babies is ok. We cannot believe that some would stand for crime.

We must understand that our society’s religion is not Christianity. We like to believe that we are a Christian nation. We are not. We must come to accept this if we are to understand what is happening around us. Today’s religion can be summarized under the term secularism

Secularism – The absence of any binding theistic authority or belief. It is an ideology (secularism) and a consequence (secularization). Religious indifference which leads to intolerance of religion. 

Scripture speaks to secularism and predicts its onslaught. In today’s passage, Paul presents for us the path of cultural destruction. And he demonstrates that this cultural destruction is the act of wrath by God upon a culture. However, this text is not given for hopelessness or despair. Rather, hope reigns, and the kingdom will advance. 

Why is prayer important? In James 5:13-20, we find the final mark of genuine faith. True believers will communicate with God in prayer. Listen to this week's sermon- "The Power of Prayer:"

Christmas is here! It's the most wonderful time of the year. However, the world's view of Christmas is shallow and mistaken. We need to remember the true meaning and purpose of Christmas. Find it in this week's sermon:

"Where is the peace on earth?" Do you find yourself asking this question as we celebrate another Christmas? We sing about peace, joy, and hope, but these ideas feel like a dream. In Revelation 5, we find a glimpse of hope in the Throne Room of Heaven. 

As Christians, we eagerly wait for the return of Christ. But this expectation is not an excuse for laziness. So, how can we glorify God while we wait? James 5:7-12 gives the answer. 

Our world is obsessed with wealth. Sadly, many Christians fall into the trap of living for money. But James 5 warns us about the dangers of living for wealth. 

What do your actions reveal about your purpose in life? Are you living for wealth, success, or comfort? Don't fall into the trap of thinking that you can control your life. James 4 rebukes such foolish thinking. Instead, we need to submit to God's sovereignty. 

Why is slander an acceptable sin? It's common in politics, entertainment, and even our homes and churches. The truth is, God hates slander. James warns against this sin in James 4:11-12.
