How do we handle genealogies in the Bible? Some ignore them, others skim them, and few learn from them. Genesis 5 is one of those genealogies; however, its message is vitally important. Listen to this week's sermon, "Death: The Tragic Result of Sin": 

Have you ever tried to fix something, but you only made it worse? We've all faced these frustrating scenarios. When man tries to fix sin, it only gets worse. In Genesis 4, we see the disastrous results of sin and man's sad attempts to fix it. 

In July 1741, the famous American preacher Jonathan Edwards delivered one of the most powerful sermons in church history, "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God." This message describes in vivid detail the sinner's position before God. In the second half of Genesis 3, we have a similar scene. Adam and Eve sinned against God, and now He's confronting them. How did we get here? In Genesis 1-2, we see God's act of creation, and it was good. But that's not the world we live in today. In today's world, we face disease, famine, disaster, and death. So what went wrong? In Genesis 3, we find the answer.

Does marriage matter? The world tells us no. Unfortunately, even the church has adopted many ungodly ideas about marriage. Genesis 2 gives us the origin of marriage and its special role in the structure of creation. God created marriage as the foundation of creation. 

Do you see work as a necessary evil? Or do you see work as just a means of getting more money? Genesis 2 teaches us that work is not a bad thing. In fact, God created mankind to work. Learn more in this week's sermon, "Work as Worship":

Genesis 1 teaches us about the creation of the universe. In verses 26-31, we learn that mankind is the pinnacle of that creation. God created man with the special privilege of bearing His image. This fact has massive ramifications for all of life. 

Can you trust God and His Word? We often become doubtful of God's promises in our broken world. Genesis was written to the nation of Israel as they were about to enter the promised land. The purpose of this book is to remind believers that we can trust God and His Word. 

As Christians, we wonder: "Who can fix this broken world? Who is worthy to save us?" Revelation 4-5 answers: Christ is worthy! In this week's message, Pastor Dave challenges us to focus on Christ because He is worthy.
