Camp Cast

On this episode of the Camp Cast we take a break from the alumni focused podcasts, and turn to the summer of 2024! Camp staples Miles Provus, Ethan Mann, Nate Beermann, Ryan Martin, Jacob Schneider, Cooper Spector, Ben Lazarus, and Jon Wool join us to chat about their first year on staff, what they look forward to this summer, give a little staff update, some ideas for 2024, and a lot of nonsense. On this debut episode of 2024 we are lucky enough to have Senior Cabin 1991 members Mark Cahan, Courtney Mann, and Jon Provus. These guys have a stacked camp resume including camper, counselor, Fantasy Campers, Father/Son Campers, Post Campers, 5-year club members, fathers of campers and staff...and much more. They have amazing stories from their time at camp, including a 16A walk-off...but not what you are picturing...and provide some insight into how camp has changed for them from when they were campers to now having kids at Menominee. This week we have a unique episode for you. We went into the archives to unveil a never released episode from the summer of 2023. Every summer Jason does a late night deep dive with RYAN FIRMIN and JACK BEHAR. This year's version needed some editing which is why it didn't get released during the summer. Therefore, on Season 7 Episode 3 of the Camp Cast Jason, Ryan, and Jack get into it! They start by talking about the 2023 Sing, then quickly go off the rails on topics like musicals, petty childhood nonsense, camper shout outs, why Jason and Behar can't get along, the Hatchet Hunt, our favorite generic key log shout outs, Chicago vs. LA Food, Feldgreber family history and how it connects to Manny's Deli, what books have you read lately, and maybe a few other actual camp related topics. On this one of a kind episode of the Camp Cast Jason is joined by former camper, CIT, counselor, Associate Director, Director, and of course Owner of Camp Menominee, Steve Kanefsky. Steve opens up about his time as a camper and counselor. How he found Menominee and his journey to becoming the owner. Then Jason and Steve go under the hood to talk about what it's like owning camp, some things people don't know or don't see about the job, and share some stories about former counselors, campers and parents. Steve also talks about his proudest moments at camp, his most regretful moments, the Kawaga competition, and much more including a great story about Koz at the end. This one surely will call for a part 2 at some point! Enjoy!

After a couple month hiatus we are back with an all new season and all new episodes of the Camp Cast! To kick off the season we are live in Scottsdale with former camper, counselor, program director, resort director and Nate Wasserman Award winner Ethan Weiss! We try out a new more structured format and dive deep into all the camp topics you love. Enjoy!

On this emotional, uplifting, celebratory, and action packed episode of the Camp Cast...it's our last day of camp! While we are devastated that the summer is coming to an end, there is a TON to celebrate. So on this podcast Jason spends some time at the beginning talking about the summer, what went on at camp tonight and listing a lot of the awards and honors given to the boys today. Then he hosts the annual "come to the studio and share your favorite camp memory" segment. You'll hear a number of campers and staff stop by for quick stories and memories (9:35). Finally, we will play you the audio of the final awards an honor ceremony for the evening including Junior Honor Camper, Intermediate Honor Camper, the 6 Menominee Values Awards, and of course, the Nate Wasserman Award (50:48). We forgot to cover the Twilight League Playoffs...but shout out to Judah Nitzkin's Team (Juniors), Spencer Polovin's Team (Intermediates), and Daniel Gelfgat's Team (Seniors) for winning their Twilight League Championships today.

Today we had the most dramatic, intense, and insane end to the All Camp Relay (and the entire Green & White Competition in camp history! So the only way we could do it justice is to have on the 6 overall captains Tyler Field, Chase Kaplan, Eli Flaum, Daniel Gelfgat, Michael Goluch, and Dylan Hirsch. We get in to all of it...ALL of it.
