The recent Optus triple-zero failures have highlighted the severe consequences of network outages.

The federal government yesterday introduced a bill to create a "Triple Zero Custodian" , who would provide oversight on Australia's emergency system to detect any issues.

But will this be enough to restore confidence in the system, particularly in regional and remote communities where finding adequate coverage and reception can be a day-to-day problem?
