The Wellness Breakdown

Can going caffeine free cold turkey fix your sleep?

Listen Later

About the episodeThis week on the podcast, Rose makes Eve go caffeine free for a fortnight. Caffeine has become universal in our lives. We use caffeine to wake us up in the morning, we meet friends for a coffee at lunch. We eat caffeinated desserts and drink coffees at the end of meals. Coffee is delicious, stimulating and cultural but it also has a multitude of side effects - addiction, anxiety, stress, insomnia, digestive issues, and high blood pressure. There’s also growing research to suggest that coffee, rather than providing us with energy, limits our energy levels and promotes adrenal fatigue. So, how will going two weeks without caffeine reduce Eve’s stress and improve her overall sleep and energy levels? Will caffeine withdrawal prove too much for our host? Or do the benefits of coffee simply outweigh the negatives? Let’s find out. The Challenge: Eve must go caffeine free for two weeks. Paying close attention to her sleep, energy and stress levels. About the hostsEve Kalinik is a nutritional therapist and author.
