The beautiful display of imago Dei as male and female tell us about who God is and who we are: equal and distinct. God is three-in-one and humans are two-in-one. God is Father, Son, and Spirit humans are male and female. The pitfalls that have come against the Trinity in Church history, are the same pitfalls coming against God’s image today: how can we be male AND female? How can we be simultaneously equal AND distinct?

God’s word overcomes and orders the chaos and emptiness of the primordial waters. By His Word, God Spirit forms the chaos and fills the emptiness for human flourishing. In the same way, God’s Spirit and Word forms us and fill us for our flourishing in the Word made flesh.

How do a godly husband and wife reconcile? The fifth part of the song portrayed the redemption and reconciliation of the husband and wife after the conflict. In this section of the Song, we see three redemptive reversals in the couple's story, but also in the Biblical story. This week we learn that Jesus redeems us and our relationships from the curse, from our fears, and from our shame.
