What’s your cancer risk?  Trained in oncology, epidemiology, and genetics, Melanie R. Palomares, M.D., M.S., affectionately known as “Dr. Mel”, practices preventive oncology: the care of healthy patients at increased risk for cancer and cancer survivors at risk for new cancers. 

After nearly 20 years in academia, first at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, and then at the City of Hope in Los Angeles, and after experiencing cancer personally, Dr. Mel founded the Cancer Prevention Movement. 

In this episode we explore both the medical and emotional toll of stress. As a Toxic Relationship Awareness & Healing Specialist, Dr Heidi Brocke turns her past into her passion as she provides hope, healing, and freedom to those whose lives have been affected by toxic relationships.

Dr Heidi has been in healthcare for over 24 years as a Physician, Acupuncturist, and a Nutritionist and she now uses her life experience and education to be the person she needed when she herself was trapped in the darkness of an unhealthy relationship. Her travel nursing career took her to Mayo Clinic Minnesota & Arizona, Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD and many others.  She gives back to the community by volunteering with programs such as Meals on Wheels, Hospice care, Victim Services & The Salvation Army.

While studying for her Master’s in Nurse Anesthesia, she embarked on a mission trip to Kenya, Africa with Kenya Relief, providing medical care for the beautiful Kenyan population. Currently she works in Chicago as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) in various hospital & office settings. In her spare time she mentors aspiring CRNA’s.

Nichole Giller is a Registered dietitian of 10 years and specializes in the field of oncology. She works with cancer patients, all types of cancer, before, during, and after treatment. Her mission is to help her clients reduce food fears and get the FACTS around how nutrition is a tool for them to beat off their cancer and reduce risk for recurrence!

Nichole has created a program called The Cancer Prevention Method, where she helps clients heal their PTSD around food and nutrition - moving from FEAR TO FUN and to show them how to use and enjoy food again!

Dr. Nandarani Meister is an “out-of-the-box” Oncologist and founder of Transformative Oncology based in Zurich, Switzerland. After studying oncology she identified a gap in traditional practices in addressing the mind-body-soul connection of a cancer patient. She immersed herself in the study of Conscious Medicine and all healing arts, to include the Triadic Principle, process- and embodiment-focused trauma work, and emotional healing techniques. Today her practice focuses on healing the patient physically, mentally and emotionally, including individual spiritual needs as well.

Her techniques are deeply reflective as she creates individual care plans for each patient. Her main intention is to bring a shift in consciousness of how cancer is perceived and treated and to raise awareness for the unique chance cancer carries for everyone of us to live our best lives.

Karen also leads virtual cancer survivor and caregiver support groups, advocates for disparities of healthcare in our African American and Hispanic communities and speaks to educate, inform and connect people in all stages of healing.
