Cantina Cast: Star Wars Podcast

Note: This is a FULL Patreon episode we're releasing for FREE as a thank you to all of our audio listeners...enjoy!

Should they have stayed…or did George Lucas make the right call? Tonight, Albert and Chris return to Fix It or Order 66 It? and turn their attention to the deleted scenes from Star Wars: Episode I, The Phantom Menace!

We're digging into the footage left on the cutting-room floor including Anakin's fight with Greedo, his farewell to Jira, Qui-Gon's encounter with Darth Maul's probe droid, the Waterfall Sequence, Dawn Before the Race, the extended Podrace sequences, the Air Taxi scene, and more.

The original 2001 DVD featured seven completed deleted sequences, some of which were partially incorporated into later versions of the film. Which scenes add important character development or fix gaps in the story? Which ones give us a different perspective on Anakin, Qui-Gon and the events on Tatooine? And which ones were absolutely better left on the cutting-room floor?

Albert and Chris watch it all, discuss it all, and include some extra TPM promo videos at the end!

Why Anakin STILL Needs to Teach Ahsoka | The Lesson Isn't Over

Why has Anakin Skywalker returned as Ahsoka Tano's Master...and what does he still need to teach his former Padawan? Anakin's return in Ahsoka gave us one of the most important moments in their relationship: "Live…or die."

But what if that wasn't the end of Anakin's lesson? Albert and Chris take a deep dive into Anakin and Ahsoka's relationship and ask whether Anakin has returned simply because Ahsoka needs her Master or because Anakin Skywalker still has unfinished business of his own....

A forgotten piece of Lucasfilm history… and 30 minutes of RAW Return of the Jedi footage!

Albert & Chris go back to the early 1980s to explore EditDroid, the groundbreaking nonlinear editing system developed by Lucasfilm that helped point the way toward the future of digital film editing.

We'll also be dig into roughly 30 minutes of raw Return of the Jedi footage discovered on a LaserDisc associated with an EditDroid demonstration at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Convention in 1984.

Alternate takes. Unfinished footage. Behind-the-scenes glimpses of Return of the Jedi before it became the movie we know.

What exactly was EditDroid? Why was Return of the Jedi footage being used to demonstrate it? And what can this surviving LaserDisc tell us about how the film was made?

Join us as we fire up the EditDroid and take a look at Return of the Jedi before the final cut in this week's Patreon Preview!

It's happening! STAR WARS: EPISODE X is taking shape and the Skywalker Saga may not be over after all.

Albert, Chris, and Kirsty are LIVE tonight to break down the huge reports surrounding the next chapter of Star Wars on the big screen. Jon Watts, director of the Tom Holland Spider-Man trilogy and co-creator of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, is attached to direct the first film in Simon Kinberg's new Star Wars trilogy, with Kinberg writing the screenplay. Daisy Ridley is also expected to return as Rey in some capacity.

But that may not even be the biggest part of this story.

The new films are once again being described as the next episodes of the "Skywalker Saga."

What exactly does that mean?

The Rise of Skywalker was marketed as the conclusion of the nine-film Skywalker Saga. So if Episode X really is continuing that saga, whose story are we continuing? Is Rey Skywalker the bridge between the first nine episodes and a completely new generation? Could other characters from the sequel trilogy return? And does calling this the "Skywalker Saga" give us our first real clue about what Episode X will actually be about?

We dig into everything we know so far (who's writing, who's directing, who may be starring) and then get into our theories about where Episode X could take the story after The Rise of Skywalker...
